Hey guys, I recently borrowed Bioshock 1 from my friend because I just wanted to play it before I play Biodhock 2, and the problem is that I am at the second place (forgot what its called) and whenever I run up to a turret the square button doesn`t pop up so it wont allow me to atempt to hack it. I can hack everything except for turrets so its a bit weird. And I also tried switch to another one of my friends disc but the same thing was happening. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem or if anyone knows how to fix it.
Thanks for the help.

you need to shock or freeze the turrets first. It is the same with the flying sentries. I think you need to do the cameras too, but I'm not totally sure on that. Anyway – they fixed this in Bio2, so it may be a bit confusing since in the sequel you don't need to shock them. Shocking is generally a good idea anyway though – it stuns them and they don't shoot as you approach them. Freezing them is a really good idea (once you get that ability) since it slows the fluid down while you are hacking, and won't damage your turret. Also, when you get the research camera take as many pictures as freaking possible of the turrets – at some point you will get an auto hack causing all turret hacks to be automatically successful, saving a ton of time and frustration later in the game.

thats one hell of an arrow symbol. To reclarify though – all security devices require a shock to hack. All vending devices do not. An easy way to tell is if you can take a picture with the research camera, indicating that the device counts as an enemy. Also, once the device has been hacked, you will no longer be able to take pictures. That auto hack feature is also a bonus for the flying sentries, but you will not acquire it for the cameras – you only get slowed down fluid while hack them as a bonus.
