I've tried this and once all the data has been deleted and Ive restated the game it tells me to do the update, it does all the usual download and install but once it does this it tells me to do it again and after a while it says that the data is corrupt and that i need to delete the data and it goes on to say i have insufficent space on the HDD even though there is about 35 gigs free.
Any ideas whats wrong?

if this problem were in a HDD in a PC, I'd reccommend a Format. this wipes all data though.
you need to find a way to backup your device. the only left for you to do is contact sony.
