Well for a DVD or CD-ROM, I know you could pick up a kit to “buff out” a scratch. Blu-Rays, however, are something else.

Really? Well, here is an interesting article:

http://www.azuradisc.com/bluray_faqs.pdf

“Q: Are Blu-Ray Discs Repairable? If yes…How Deep of a Scratch can you repair?

A: Yes, however it is important to know how Blu-Ray differs from other discs.

Note that the Blu-Ray has the least amount of protection when compared to ANY other format FAR LESS!.

1). A Blu-Ray disc has only an 8% Protection layer before you can scratch (from read side) into the actual data layer. This layer is Pure Hard Coat material, and is not made from standard polycarbonate like all other disc formats, since it is hard coated and must be repaired differently.

2) DVDs & HD-DVDs Have up to a 50% Polycarbonate protection layer (from read side) that can be scratched and repaired. (Double sided DVDs have 25% per side)

3) CD-ROMs and CDR discs, have a 99% Polycarbonate protection layer (from read side) that can be scratched and repaired. “

Back to Ratchet, what kind of disk is it?

Well, nothing really comes to mind that can help you out at this point. The only equipment I have read about for repairing Blu-Ray discs is more on the “commercial use” side of things. I guess you will have to see if you can purchase a copy of the disc.

BTW Regular disk “buffers” ( liquids and such) don't really help get scratches off Blu Ray discs.

blu-ray discs have a protective coating that prevents scratches very well

the coating on a Blu-ray disc is over 100 times more scratch-proof than a DVD

the data on a Blu-Ray disc is closer to the surface (than a DVD or CD) and also true is the far better protective coating on a Blu-Ray disc (than a DVD or CD). http://answers.yahoo.com/quest…..556AAsFVNU

The only time I scratched a Blu-Ray disc was when I was taking my PS3 apart after it croaked and I was taking Modern Warfare 2 out which was stuck in it when it broke. It has an ugly scratch on it but it's still working okay.

Sorry Ratchet I can't think of anything that can fix that.

But out of curiosity (<- spelling fail? lol) What game is it?

My imaginary friend thinks you have serious problems

step one: go to blockbuster or anywhere you can rent a game

step two: rent the game

step three: switch the disks

step four: get the game of your choice and play it for a platinum

step five: give the disk back to your cousin

step six: return your rented game

step seven: take a nap in your favorite chair knowing you are the master…

why do people argue about such things…

do a bit of research and you'll find…

originally, blu-ray discs had hard outer housing for protection similar to professional tape disks and such.

this was seen as too expensive, and as such, hard coating was chosen instead.

TDK made the first working protection method, and was named Durabis.

most companies now produce their own yet equally as good hard coating protection methods.

blu-rays are required by law to be scratch resistant.

dvds, are not.
