well…. its not terrible…. not great either.  I feel like they should have gone with something that would ring true for the softcore community… like Sony Wand, or something to that effect, where with just the name you can imagine what the hell the thing is.  Sure, us nerds on the internet will know what it is no matter what they call it, but to try to bring in more customers who don't play tons of games already, and call it Gem, you'll have people going “What the hell is Gem?” and “Who cares?”

Same thing is with Natal tbh. It all depends on the marketing – if ppl will see Gem in TV spots and things like that they will know what is is. Gem is short but it should be smth more connected with gaming.

At least this control is kind of innovative..

Natal is just the PS Eye.. with nice graphics.. LAME!

i personally hate most of these motion contollers.. i ONLY like the Sixaxis motion thing in Flower.. awesomeness.. but other than that, it is crap (Lair!!). Wii is complete crap because of their terrible controller, and Natal just looks like a fail. Why cant we just keep the current controllers, and work on games?..

pretty much. I guess Sony and Microsoft are aiming for the more younger audience (which includes my age but im not interested in it really) which will get them sales..

it all comes down to money both companies will like at the wii's suscess and try to gain some of that profit this also allows their console to reach to more people such as families who owns a wii and persuade them to venture forth and buy a ps3 for wizard sticks or xbox360 for natal

this can also lead to downsides as shown in wii's falling momentum this year as non gaming people or casual gamers in light of rescent economic times will cut back spending on games while the hardcore always make ways to get their next new game also as with wii most of their games are to be honest crap as companies release any old crap to gain profits in that large market this has been blamed upon sony also when they were accused of cutting getaway and 8days later to make more singstar's and eyetoy

hopefully sony will keep both sides happy with more great games such as maybe infamous compared too some playstation stick mini games Fools

I think it is a good strategy. Tbh tehre is more casuals out there then the hardcore gamers. For example – my wife hate PS3. The only resone that I have one at home is becuase I was saving for it for a loooooonnnnggggg time :D . I got Diner Dash from PSN recently. Try to ask for a game pad when seh plays :P .

If anyone is unfamiliar with Diner Dash here a quic link:

BTW if anyone wants to play online just add me :D .

TBH I'm interested in the Motion Controller. My mom will stop bugging me about lying down for hours and hours, and I'll finaly get to hit an enemy with my own strenght. As long as it dosen't cost a fortune…

What would be nice is if they could integrate it as an optional accessory to use during certain times in games.  For example, if playing God of War 3 if there is a scene where you have to defend yourself from incoming enemies with the bow and arrow, having the option to use normal targeting, or switch to the wand for the full motion experience would be really cool.  I really liked that part of the wand demo by the way, that was just badass.  Anyway, it would allow people to play the game normal, especially if they don't own the accessory, and would allow those who own it to make use of it in a fun way.  The only problem is that if it were only used in certain scenes as I said, it might be kinda a pain to pause the game, put down the controller, turn on the wand, and unpause again… but in my eyes, its a small sacrifice.

I like that GOW 3 idea. I loved the video too, when he used the bow to kill enemy's. I liked the sword part too. There will be a PS HOME Button on the controllers, most games pause when you hit the PS HOME button, so the sacrifice just went down a little.Laughhttp://littlebigplanetnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/ps3f_lbpnation_tgs_09_motion_controller_playstation_ps_eye_9_23_09.thumbnail.jpg
