Rock Band 3 actually did it..
They added a freaking Keytar. *facepalm* Honestly.. I remember I said they would add it as joke, because it would so ridiculously stupid. But they actually went and did it.
Just in case you don't fully believe me..

Well, I hope they don't milk the franchise as much as Activision did.
I mean, there's Rock Band: Green Day. And in my opinion RB2 is still great.

I was really hoping for a keyboard as I am an avid piano player. I don't like the sound of this, though. Lets just give them another guitar and put piano keys on? Harmonix have to be careful here, they need to make sure this 'new' peripheral feels 'new'.

@One-Winged_Angel – Unfortunately, I see a dreadful milking of the RB series in the next few years. Its turning out to be exactly like GH.
Remember the first 3 Guitar Hero games? They were so awesome. They felt so new. Now, GH is pretty lame, because we have Rock Band.
Hopefully Rock Band can keep throwing new ideas at us, and not make a new game with a stupid new gimmick every year.

I remember joking with friends about adding a keytar and just having a whole list of 80's music… looks like its about to become a reality. Just another accessory they can make money off of.
Like previously said, a keyboard would have been much more fun. The keytar is essentially going to be the same thing as a guitar, but I'll give it a shot providing the song list is decent.
I can see the Rockband games being like Guitar Hero within a year or so. The only thing that keeps me interested in the Rockband games is the fact they add a lot of sweet songs for download.

This new “Pro Mode” is supposed to teach people how to actually play the instrument.
It won't happen. I guarantee you someone will think they know how to play guitar because of this, plug into an amp, and just get feedback galore.
There will always be a difference between a REAL instrument and a Rockband Instrument, no matter how real it might feel.
