OK, so ‘The Tester’ is a PSN based game show on the U.S Store. It features serious Playstation gamers who are vying to win a spot with SCEA to be part of the QA team.

But get this, they don’t play games on the show. They take part in tenuous games that almost link up to games. It’s a terrible show and you shouldn’t waste your bandwitdth on it.

Having said that, it’s got its hooks in me and now I’m morbidly obssessed with it. Anyone else watching it?

I cannot believe that Star survived. Again.

Nope.  I almost signed up to be on the show, actually… and now I'm glad I didn't.  The fact that none of their competition has anything to do with gaming means I would have dropped immediately anyway – not that I couldn't do what they're doing (which I'm not really sure what that actually is), but on principle alone that I would have been decieved about what I was signing up for.

I wish they did something like this in Australia. I'd so win….I think i'd be a great game tester.

It's actually something i want to get into one day. I really should implement a plan….instead of cranking games so much…

Ah well, i wonder if any of the contestants are actually avid gamers like myself…

Being an “avid gamer” or having plenty of virtual achievements doesn't mean you'd be a good tester there is a lot more involved then simply playing games, yes it helps to have a good knowledge of games but everyone does these days anyway. My friend from high school has been a tester since 2008 and he loves it but he got a good reality check when he realised it wasn't all about playing games. I'd much rather be a developer then a tester as I think it would be a better career.

Well duh lol.

I have done study on this career myself, and i am not some kid who thinks all he will be doing all day is playing lots of games for fun. That would be TOO easy.

Developing would be a better career definately, but takes several years of study and a lot of hard work on your own part. Not to mention not as much time to game.

I've got the intelligence to be a developer but not the effort lol.

So i'll stick with what i know and do best, and that is tapping molten metal and playing video games :)

4 years of uni to become a developer.

2 years at tafe (or college for those that will have no idea what tafe is) to become a tester. The only thing that stopped me from going down that path is that I wanted to be a chef and have devoted too much of my life into it to just up and change my career.
