I was suckered into buying a ps3 early and bought the 20g. unfortunately, now I'm paying the price since 20G is the only version that does not support wireless!!! My system is in my room and far far away from the wireless router. So far, I have been bridging my laptop and my ps3 (which gives a shifty connection at best). I've been looking into buying one of those TRENTnet wireless N gaming adapter things, but that won't work since I have G wireless (G gaming adapters are priced through the roof)  . Does anyone have any suggestions or past experiences that might help me out?

Hey man, I have the 20GB too. And yes, it doesn't support wireless, but it is arguably the most reliable unit next to the slim.. I have never heard of any 20GB PS3's breaking or getting the YLOD. So theres a bright side for you.
I used to have my PS3 in my room, far away from the Router as well. I used to run a really long ethernet cable from my room to the router. I managed to hide the cable, by running it under the carpet, so it was practically unnoticeable. And if you ask me, a wired connection is always more reliable than a wireless one. May not be as pretty, but sure works beautifully. Thats probably your best bet, buy a really long ethernet cable (btw, they are really cheap) and just run it to your room, and be creative with how you cover it up. Hide it under a carpet, drill a hole then run it through that, staple it to the ceiling, or something else, i don't know.
I recently moved my PS3 right beside the router, cuz I'm at new house now.. and yea. But before, and I did this for about a year or two, and never really had any problems with it. I don't know if its something you would be interested in, but I would think thats the best way of doing it.

Yeah you're right about wired connections being much better. I used to have my ps3 close to the router too, but there was a window right next to the tv that made playing during the day near impossible. So, I decided to move it. The sad part about all this is that, at one point, I had a wire going into my room, but it got cut!

Got cut? Damn.. thats got to suck. I hear you on the windows making gaming impossible. Damn the outdoors! lol I usually play with the freaking blinds closed now, but I still sometimes get the glare making me not be able to see.
Well, I hope you can figure something out. Let us know if you get anything working for yourself.

What price is the gaming adapter you’re looking at? Might it be worth your while picking up a new PS3?
Apart from the lack of wireless do you guys not find the 20GB really constricting?

If I have learned anything from my time working in the service industry it’s that for quite a few people, the basic theories behind the use of a toilet are absolute mysteries…

Well the N gaming adapter is around $40. The G is somewhere in the $100… I didn't bother looking further because I didn't want to spend the bucks. I bought a 320GB laptop hard drive (70$) and switched it out with the 20GB so space isn't an issue anymore (I got the 320GB because I ran out of space :S). The only real downside I have come by so far is the fact that it won't pick up wireless!!

I love my 20GB. It has 4 USB slots, and Backwards compatibility which for me, is freaking amazing.
I of course upgraded the HDD to a bigger one, but other than that, I have never had a hardware issue. And I don't think I have ever heard a story of a 20GB model getting YLOD or breaking down, in comparison to the other phat models. I don't think its constricting at all. I love bragging about my ability to play PS2 and PS1 games, whereas my friends with the newer systems can't do that.
Only 1 thing sucks about the 20GB: No Wi-Fi. Other than that, its one of the most reliable electronic devices I have ever owned.

I agree with the backwards compatibility. The only thing is though, when you get used to ps3 graphics, playing a ps2 or ps1 game makes you want to throw your controller at the tv. lol. I used to be in love with Battlefront, but then tried playing it on the ps3 after playing games like resistance 2, CoD 4… I got really frustrated at its “blaaaahness”.

Yea I know what you mean JoeWest. But like, I love playing playing the classic games, like Crash Bandicoot, and I still don't get bored of them. MGS1 was ridiculous to play after finishing MGS4 though, i'm not gonna lie. After I got used to the control scheme, and camera angles and whatnot, MGS1 was nearly impossible on my first try, but I got used to it after a few days.

I am seriously hoping to get Crash Bandicoot in Playstation Plus. I have toyed with the idea of just buying it, but while I have all my other games I think I wouldn't play it that much so getting it in Playstation Plus would be perfect.
