about 3 days ago i put mw2 in my ps3 and waited to see the cd emblem pop up so i could play……. it never popped up, so i tried many other ps3 titles… same result. ps1 and ps2 games work fine because they are cd and dvd format. but i have to eject and reinsert ps3 gamesover and over b4 my system reads it. so i called good old sony and was informed that older 80gb consoles were having there blue ray drives crap out on them… so now im stuck fiddling with reinserting a game for like 20 minutes b4 i can play it… anybody ever have this happen to them before? if so what did you do about it?
and dont say send it to sony because they dont offer warrantys for older 80gb systems. all they have you do is restore system default settings and if that doesnt work they ask that you send it in to be repaired along with a check for $175.00…. total bs. anyways let me know what you guys think.

Never happened to any of the PS3's I own and saying don't send it to Sony won't help fix your problem it's obviously broken so needs to be repaired either that or you can buy a new PS3.

I had it happen a while ago. Had to have sony fix it. It was right before my 1 year warranty was up. It sucks dude.

It happened to my first PS3 which was a 60gb, luckily it was just in warrant so after a lot of mucking about I got a replacement.
But the thing that worked for me (but it only worked once) was I reset the settings and it worked again.

Umm I remember calling Sony and they told me to turn of the ps3, hold the on button till i hear 2 beeps and a menu pops up and click on the highlighted one..I dont think it was for bluray failure..
