Sony is about to launch a new firmware update for the PS3. Available for download tomorrow, the new firmware 2.80 will be a basic update. No major new additions will be made available. There are a few fixes to increase performance such as faster Trophy synchronization and faster XMB loads. Sony will, of course, make an official post either tonight about Firmware 2.80 or early tomorrow to let us know it’s coming later in the day.
As it was reported by ThatGamerAccess, Sony has updated their press site with a 2.80 debug file. It''s not set for download but Sony usually adds these a day before or the day of the real release.
It’s nothing to get excited about. It’s just a typical update.

aye, so when it happens. Rather than wait around for 60% I make a cup of tea, have a bath… And all that…. I don’t know if anyone has notised… but as soon as it passes 60% on download and install it goes extreamly fast… Anyone know why? Or realised that?

mine usually gets to 50% and then goes straight 100%. then installs at a steady pace.

To my knolage you have to scan for the 2.80 update… It doesn’t do it automaticly. About to do it now.

if people who are not from there and update it it will void your warranty

not me someone on my friends list isnt updating becuase he had red in the official ps3 forums that if your not from north amercia do not update because it will void your warranty
