I read an article on CVG that a number of PS3's have crashed since the latest firmware, sorry I've lost the link.
Sony has said that it's not the firmware updates fault.

btw, how do u dust a ps3?
Do u take something off, I have never dusted mine.
You could either just run a vacuum cleaner along the fan holes, but if you wanted to give the system a proper dust, you'd have to actually open up the PS3 by taking the top off. You'd then use some canned air to blow the dust out.
k, thx

opening a ps3 voids the warranty, as it states on the sticker covering one of the screws

My PS3 (40Gb Fat) won't let me play games. It turns on fine, can still go on the internet and speak to friends but in the 'GAME' section on the Xmb i can't select a game on disk to start playing.
I'm phoning Sony tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes haha.

@Scottsummers
Does the disk keep spinning in the console? Does it actually show up on the XMB?

Can you play PSN downloaded games? What game did you first notice the problem with?

FYI
Sony have apparently stealth patched the 3.41 FW update, so that it works with all HDD units and has apparently fixed the freezing issues. I've read that it was indeed the FW that was causing the problems, some people have copies of both 'pre' and 'post' 3.41 updates and both have diff. hash files or something to that effect…
I don't know why Sony felt they had to do this underhand but at the same time i can see there reasoning… Do you think Sony should have came clean or kept quiet about the whole thing?

Sony also sent e-mails to those who formally complained -
We sympathize with your situation regarding the system update 3.41.
We value your input and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Please rest assured that we will convey your feedback to Sony Computer Entertainment America's (“SCEA”) appropriate management.

@ 1337 – Yes it spins, no it didn't show up
@ gr8jrfan – Yes, I can and about 5 mins before that post.
@ addict – Yes it will.
Phoned Sony yesterday and 'Imram' said in as nice a way possible that my Playstation was Fukced.
Turned it on this morning and entered 'Frogger'. Pressed Home button to get on XMB and clicked the disk so I could play Fifa 10. And it worked. Problem solved for me, at least.
Shows how much 'Imram' knows

So u have to go on a PSN game, and then click on the game through the PS button then?
That would get annoying after a while.

I turned it off after, can click on games fine now. Still think there's something wrong..
Was playing Fifa 10 (as Man United) and at the start of the game only had 9 players on the pitch, Wayne Rooney and Nani not showing up. Tryed to sub them and game froze, turned off the PS3 and restarted Fifa. Went into United team sheets and half the players were 'undefined'
