so sony deletes the install other os feature… thats it? thats all we get? wheres cross game chat? wheres everything sony keeps talking about giving us? i want cross game chat and i want to be able to send voice message instead of just txt… sony keeps letting me down.. not to mention my blu ray laser took a crap.. i ordered a new one tho so hopefully il have it by saturday and ill be back online, im really starting to be very very dissapointed with sony. and ive been a playstation fanboy for as long as i can remember.

I don't get why everyone wants CGVC . Do you just want to talk to someone while there playing a different game or what ?

its just convienent how simple and easy it it to communicate with it. like if im playing a single player game itd be nice to tlk to a friend if i wanted without haveing to be online or playing the same game.. its convience, idk how youd miss the point.. its common sense. and cross game chat is a great feature that psn needs. idk why they wont give it to us. same thing with being able to send voice messages to eachother..

“Think about it” – Seriously?
Sony want to release a premium service with services that will make people pay for it… And make people who aren't paying for the service, really want it. The Ps3 has been out long enough IMO to have implemented a cross game chat system already, not like it's something people don't want, eh? This is the kind of thing Sony will be inclined to include in such a service, to make it seem worth the money.
And it could easily be downloaded to individual consoles, much like DLC - In, hmmm, a “premium” service firmware update perhaps?

There could also be a problem with games like like Call of Duty , where you cant chat to someone who gets killed ,so you can't cheat and be told where they are . That may not be the reason but it's a problem they would have.

on the 360 theres certain gametypes that u cant use chat with for that very same reason. so theyve already taken care of that.

No it wouldn't because all they would do is have the paid DLC to use it and they could have a firmware update but not let people use it till they pay. It's a pointless feature anyway so I hope they spend their time on something more worthwhile.

Wow if you claim that I'm getting mad thats just weird, why would I waste my energy. Instead of trying to label me maybe think before you type. You made a thread to discuss cross game voice chat and other features right? you then claim to know everything and won't be told any differently so don't act like a know it all and problem solved since you created the thread, there was no point if you think you know what they are going to do or should do. I'm open to discuss the topic just don't act like a know it all as none of us know what sony have planned, I've said my piece and I'm still willing to discuss it with you just don't think you can tell me what to do and think I won't react.

I think it would be pretty easy for Sony to release a Firmware DL to individual Ps3 consoles… Just like they've been able to ban individual consoles. Through code redeem or something, giving access for the new firmware? Then after a year or whatever, it would prompt you to enter another code or force a FW down-grade to the standard srvs?
In a Firmware update for the UK last year i was able to get BBC i-player but others in diff. parts of the UK didn't. I remember someone from Ireland (i think) telling me they would Sony would never release I-player only for parts of the UK and not it all… After i had DL the firmware… So it's not like Sony can't bring out diff. firmware's with diff. features.
Time will tell i suppose? But i think i'm right, lol

I think your right Doc, it seems the most logical route they would take if they don't want to introduce a premium service but still have premium features for purchase.

This wasn't a dumb post, just not that straight forward…. I think what Miiiitch meant was that Sony would bring out a new firmware for everyone, but have perhaps a new options list in the PsN store for “premium” services or whatever. You wouldn't actually be DL anything except an “unlock code” because your Ps3 would already have the ability to do it anyway.
Similar to when games (Res. Evil 5, AC2, Soul Cal.) have locked content, but it would be your Ps3…
**EDIT**
This option would also save the need of a FW down-grade as the feature's would simply “lock” themselves again. It seems like a much easier system to work with, but Sony have a history of trying new thing's, only to go a little “tit's-up”
