This gismo's been out a while now and I'm interested to hear what people make of it.
I picked mine up on release but I haven't done a huge amount with it. I use it for music and the connectivity with the PS3 makes transferring stuff simple.
I got Golden Abyss but i haven't touched it, all my time has been spent on Super Stardust Delta. Yet I'm still shite at it…
Still, once I get to grips with it I'm hoping to really utilise it's other features. I haven't even begun to look at all the social options.
And does anyone know if I can get Netflix on it?

As much as I'd love to get a VITA I just don't think I'd ever play it.
At home I'd much prefer to play PS3 and since I drive to work I obviously can't use it then. If I had to take the bus or tube it'd be different. Plus the 3G in rural Wales is piss poor at the best of times!!

I know what you mean. I use it on my lunch in work (saves me the price of a newspaper) but the main reason I got it was for when I'm away from home for a few days or have a long bus journey.
There's also a few choice titles that I'll want to play, it was the same with the PSP.

So you guys think it's worth picking up for Uncharted and/or Resistance?

@Scotty
Only if you think you'll go on to buy more titles. I find the handhelds are great for playing through the old PS1 games that normally get demolished on the larger TVs.

I got the Vita along with Uncharted and MNR, fun stuff. Never been a fan of handheld systems but have been digging on this. Beat Uncharted, was alot longer and funner than I expected. Only thing I don't like is you can't delete some of the apps they have on there by default, otherwise I recomend it to anyone who has asked about it =]

@Zanatos
I'm just trying out Uncharted myself. I won't play much as I have a long bus journey coming up and I want something to pass the time.
Did you play the game with the traditional controls or the touch screen and motion? The screen works really well for the climbing and movement but I'm not sure how handy it would be in a firefight.

What with all the free content on ps+ I've decided to treat myself to an early Xmas present and picked up a Vita.
Anyone know how this works with downloading Uncharted from the store? I got a 4gb card with it but something tells me that won't be enough.

So, with the one year anniversary coming up with the release of the Vita in NA and EU, how would you guys reflect on the product? Do you think it was overhyped and a failing system?
Although I currently do not possess a Vita, I look back at all the hype surronding the AAA titles arriving to the scene, which most, if not all, falling flat on release. Now that I'm looking at what's in development for the handheld, there's nothing much there. It's disappointing to see but honestly, why the fcuk isn't there any real system seller out there besides the Playstation Plus? Sony should've released that overpricing such a handheld would doom their income, but oh well

I'm not too ready to write the Vita's obituary just yet. I know it hasn't had an exactly stellar year but if you think of the PS3 at it's first birthday things were looking pretty grim. The AAA titles had almost completely failed to materialise and the flagship shooter (Resistance) was a miserable affair. At one stage it was looking like we'd never have anything to compare to Halo or Gears. I think Motorstorm was the only year one title that properly impressed me.
The Vita has followed a similar story. There's been a little more hype around some of the AAA titles but it's really only the shooters that have failed completely. People seem happy with the versions of Mortal Kombat, LBP Karting and Uncharted. assassin's Creed Liberation wasn't a breakthrough but it wasn't a disaster either. For me the biggest issue is (once again) the slow trickle of games we're getting. The launch was nice and solid but then we went almost half a year before anything worth buying turned up. And with such paucity of games available, when one does particularly badly (Blops:De), it really stands out.
I personaly think the Vita is never going to grab success by attempting to mirror the PS3. Dumbed down versions of full PS3 games are always going to be second best and the reviews will always focus on the bits that are missing but available in other versions of the game. If we hadn't come across Uncharted before Golden Abyss then it would have blown our minds. It's an amazing game on a handheld. But compared to it's bigger brothers it just disapoints. Vita needs it's own identity and with features like double touch pads, two cameras and motion control, the devs really need to get a bit creative.

I'm inclined to agree with both of you. I've played Black Ops: Declassified (I actually was just five minutes ago. Cry for me.) but I've also played UGA and other games that were actually good. So Killzone is actually the only hope for a good portable twin stick FPS. A lot of titles were hyped up like ACL and Black Ops Declassified (It hurts typing it's name ) but I still think that it does have the potential to redeem itself. The front touchpad worked surprisingly well in UGA, to the point where you just get used to it, like controller inputs. I never thought I'd like all the motion and touch crap but if it's done right, it doesn't bother me at all.
Also, some people complain that there are ports for the Vita? I honestly don't understand why they'd bitch and moan about that. The fact that it can successfully bring a PS3 quality title to me wherever I wanted is something that the PSP never did and never could. There are minimal differences so it's a credit to the system! It's the true Playstation 3 Portable and for that, I'm happy.
