is playstation network down for maintenance or something?? when i turn my ps3 on it instantly displays a message about cannot communicate with server and DNS error or roughly that, and i cannot sign in, or use the web browser….. whats going on??

Sounds like a problem your end, rather than Sony's end. Have a look at your connection settings.

It hasn't been down for me but it has been slow when trying to sync trophies the last few days. I've even received an error message a few times.
