I want to play some of my ps2 games on my ps3 with the saved data of the game. How do i do it, do i need to buy something for it? Cause i don't want to take out my dusty ps2 and plug it in. Thanks :) .

You need a memory card adaptor to switch the files over to your ps3, you'll also need a 60gb console which I presume you have since your asking.

A memory card adapter is necessary to transfer old saved data files onto your PS3. I also want to add that an 80gb PS3 will work fine.  You might also want to download the app for PS2 data from the playstation store.

There was some kind of app of the US Playstation store. I remember it had something to do with PS2 Save data, but don't remember much else about it.

Thanks, I'll have to make a U.S account and check that out then.

Was there a PS/PS2 Game Data  icon under GAME on the XMB before you downloaded it? I think it just lets you save your PS2 games directly to your ps3.

You will definitely need a memory card adapter, there about $25 (a rip off if you ask me..). Don't get why they didn't include a slot to plug it into.. I mean, you can plug in your SD cards, Memory Stick Duos, and some other crap, but not Sony's OWN card!! WTF!!!

anyway.. are you sure you can play PS2 games on your PS3? I know i can, with my 20GB model, and i know the 60s can as well.. but i don't think the 80's can.. have you tried it yet?

Yes, the 80gbs work just fine. I can attest to that because I recall playing GTA 3 on my 80gb not too long ago and the PS3 worked just fine. Smile

I tried it on my 80gb and it doesn't work, 60gbs can though.

if you want you could buy one use it and then return it. If that is an option.

oh you still have your PS2?

Then why bother trying to play the games on your PS3, when you can just simply play them on your PS2?

for the record – that app on the psn store simply allows the ps2 games to access system information that otherwise is not readily available, such as the local time, system settings, etc.  Some games require it, most do not.  Still a good idea to download it though.

The easiest way to find out if the PS3 has Backward Compatability is to look at how many USB ports it has.

2 USB ports = No B.C.

4 USB ports = Yes B.C.

P.S. I still have my PS1 next to my PS3 :P
