Hey guys. I wanted to play Resistance 2 on my ps3 and when i turn it on and start the game up, the screen just stays black. Does anyone know why? I also tried the Spyro the Dragon (ps1 classic) and it still had a black screen when i started the game. Thanks in advance.

Is it only with those two games or are all your discs giving you the same result?

I don't know. Resistance 2 is on Disc and Spyro is downloaded. I'll check and see what happens.

hmm.. have you tried any other games?

Isn't it a coincidence that both games are made by insomniac?!

Hey,I had a problem like this. Are you downloading something in background? Some games don't start if you are downloading anything in background.

Hey Ratchet, I know people who have had that very same problem. All of my friends got theirs to work by unplugging the ps3 from the tv, unplugging all cables from tv and ps3, and then plugging everything back in after 10 minutes. None of us are sure what caused the problems, but it is definitely worth a try.

They had the black screen, no audio, and their controllers weren't being detected. If you have these same symptoms, then I really suggest trying what my friends did. Hope this helps.

I really hope it helps. There is another solution that WILL fix your problem unless it is your video card that blew out. Here is a link to another solution (scroll down until you see the video). The only downfall of this other option is that you will lose all your game saves but will fix the problem.

In the future, a hard reset usually fixes any of these problems.  All you do is turn the power on by pressing the button on the ps3 and holding it for about 5 seconds, until it beeps twice.  This resets all audio and video setting to the default, and then auto detects what the optimal settings are for the current connection.  Much easier than disconnecting all the wires, etc…

Wasn't the spyro game pulled of the uk PSN cause it didn't work? I got an e-mail saying i had been credited the money back onto my account…  Every time you went through a portal the game would freeze… I this back on the UK store or just the US PSN?

uhhhhh…. no?  its an audio/video reset.  Sometimes if your settings aren't just right, certain games won't view correctly.  For example, if you set your video manually, you might enable 1080p and i, but not 720p and i.  You will find that any game that doesn't support the 1080 modes wont display correctly, or not at all.  Its just a simple way to check if its the audio/video setting, or if its a bigger problem.
