Here's an interesting article from CVG which in their turn got the news from OPM:
Get all the trophies in a PS3 game and you earn yourself a coveted Platinum Trophy that sparkles on your XMB. But Sony could have more in store for trophy hoarders, according to the US Official PlayStation Magazine.
“We've heard that SCEA is mulling over some sort of Trophy reward system,” it says in the latest issue of OPM.
“We doubt it'll be cash (or the equivalent), but we suspect it might be exclusive access to early betas and the like,” the magazine speculates.
Sony UK declined to comment on the rumour, but we'd say access to exclusive wallpapers or themes via the PS Store could also be possible, or early access to demos. Would be nice. This would surely be a nice addition

that would be sweet, imagine we get a point system like 360 does and you get 50 sony points for every platinum trophy and a 100 points for getting 250 total trophies then when you get another 250 trophies to be equal to 500 trophies you get 100 SP’s etc…. and you could use em to get new avatars,themes demos etc… it would be awesome.

I hope it happens too. It gives some point in earning trophies rather than just bragging. 
@Ginger_Kid_2000: All the consoles copy each other… Microsofts avatars look strangely similiar to the Wii's Miis… PS3 Trophies are also not far off Xbox's Achievements… You could name quite a few things that have been copied between consoles.

except gamerpoints are nothing more than an epenis measurement and cannot be cashed in for microsoft points

reading comprehension must not be your strongest area
read post i quoted where notorious implied one could use the points (gamerpoints attached to achievements) to buy shit on the 360 which is impossible… microsoft points (the currency of the xbox live marketplace) and gamerpoints are 2 different things and one cannot be exchanged for another
my post has nothing to do with the PS3

reward system probably = neat crap for playstation home such as clothing, hair, accessorys, stuff to furnish your apartment, and maybe some type of neat trophy case.
