Checking the net I've found this topic has been in circulation for a while, but until today i as totally oblivious…

The Belzar Ps3 mod-chip - The world's first mod-chip to direct boot Blu Ray back-ups (copied games), and is packed full of other useful features including, multi-region DVD, and Blu Ray movie playback… Now I'm not gonna repeat everything I've read, google it and you'll find something. Sorry I'm lazy…

I don't think this is a good thing, on the laughable 360 it's not a prob… I mean who wants to spend money on a piece of crap to a company who just don't care (All 360's have 2 major probs. out the box and there should've been a product re-call at launch – TRUE) But the Ps3 is something not to be messed with… Sony are still making a loss on every Ps3 and have “future proofed” it for a couple of years at least…

Although games are creeping more towards the £60 quid mark and V.A.T going up soon perhaps if it's even real i might buy a second hand ps3 and try it out? If it's real me might see it by the end of the year but SONY will take it very seriously and find a fix…

What's everyone thinking bout this?

Well as far as i know craked consoles and games dont work on multiplayer so some people will not going to buy it. Also the blu-ray is only good when it is official not cracked.

well, a firmware update will fix this.  However, if you do it with a system with no intention to get online… well, pirates ahoy!  The thing is, without online play, you'd be missing out on some of the best parts of gaming these days.  You might be better off just getting gamefly.

“Belzar Ps3 mod-chip” isn't real. There's no way to play pirated games as of now.

I completely agree, modding a PS3 is a cardinal sin and not worth it. I have yet to see it in action but have never heard of it working before now. I cannot see the appeal of doing it tbh Silly silly people. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

MP may not work with PSN on modded PS3's but if they do mod the PS3 I am sure the cracked games will have there own virus ridden servers to suit online!

I found games to be coming down in price more recently though, most new release's here are now 45 – 50 euro compared to 60-70 euro on release! £60 seems like a lot though i wouldn't pay it!

Special editions are what pushes the price up – £108 GOW3 special edition and the £75 Bioshock2 special edition are prime examples…

The GOW3 special has all 3 games plus a heap more… But then there's your special edition Fallout @ £50 and Heavy Rain @ £40… I think they (developers) just pick a price at random somtimes, or it seems so anyway…

The MW2 uber edition with the goggles was a rip!

yeah i got the MW2 prestige, i am kinda sorry i did for financial reasons but i am also glad i have them for immature reasons :) With the sterling prices you really do get ripped off, we work out cheaper in Ireland and our interest rate is higher too! I wouldn't pay full whack normally unless its a game that has an online timescale that is limited, but in general the games have come down over here. Curency conversion is very poorly done i think!

So i read these articles -

http://www.product-reviews.net…..ban-users/

Interesting… eh? But with Ps3 games being 8gb—> i can't see too many people DL'ing a ton of games. And if Sony can find and 'brick' 'jailbroken' Ps3's then that has it's obvious downfalls Teasing

I myself wouldn't do this… And i don't post here as a promotion to piracy, just as a promotion as to what's happening in the world of Ps3 Laugh

Cool I guess… I would never do that though. Just because I think its wrong.. and 8GB is pretty small if you ask me.. especially considering the scale of some PS3 games.

I'd never ruin my Playstation 3 with this bullshit. I'd rather buy all of the games I want or rent them.

It's the same with the whole 'Geohot issue' if you keep up with the world of hacking. Although he (Geohot) IMO made a mountain out of a molehill…

It's not just about the piracy of games though… Think of a homebrew on PS3… Or the fact that the games run up to 2x faster of the HDD. Hacking ain't just about getting something for nothing, some people want to unlock the power of the Ps3 for better things…

My friend mentioned Sony have already started banning people, so be very careful and make sure you 100% know what your getting into…

I wonder if they will create a programme to disable the copy protection on some game save files, that would be good Laugh

Also get ready for the possible DRM console invasion!?

I'm still unsure of this myself…

Meh, even if this thing was given to me as a gift, i still wouldn't pirate PS3 games. I like to have my collection of games sat under my TV. These modchips are just a waste of money in my opinion, and it's just eventually going to spoil the PS3. Yes, game companies may rip us off at times, but the way I look at it is that the more money game companies have, the more they'll spend on quality games.

People need to look past the whole 'pirated games' thing… There are multiple good things that can come from this happening. It might effect the Ps3 and the average Ps3 user slightly? The only reason i would use this is for emulators, you can't deny that would be awesome.

I'd just buy a cheap Ps3 and never run it online, but i wouldn't pirate games. Me and a couple mates buy different games then swap them anyway… I'm not one of these people who plat every game anyway, and i wouldn't even if i could. And you could save your game to the HDD and run it faster… Imagine MNR without the mind breaking loading times, that would also be awesome…

Remember this is only in its infancy… There are already videos showing emulators running on Ps3 using old Ps2 Homebrew on Youtube, check it out.
