What's up guys. I want to start this off saying I'm not trying to be mean to anyone or talk bad about how some people view trophies, this is just my personal opinion and I am curious if anyone else shares it.
What is your opinion of people who get trophies just for the sake of getting trophies and boosting their rank? Personally, when I am looking at someones trophy list, if I see childish (or just plain awful) games such as UP, Hannah Montana, Ice Age, Terminator, etc. I just lose all respect for whomever profile I am looking at. I think it's more impressive when people have real games and they actually finish them. You can be at Rank 16 but if your littered with easy plats (or in some cases double plats) it's worthless to me.
Now that I'm done with that on a side note I would like to see Sony implement a trophy rating system with leader boards, not on a basis of how many trophies you have though, but on a basis of completion. The more trophies you have mixed with the total completion % and amount of games. There is no set highest value as the world is continually growing and the system would have to account for that. I just think that would be cool. Given two gamers, one with 2000 trophies and an average completion % of 60% and the other with 1200 trophies and a completion % of 90%, I would rank the second higher.
These are just thoughts, what do you think?

About the Terminator thing… No word of a lie, i actually thought the game looked good, until i played it.. so thats why i have the plat..
I don't really care about how many plats someone has, or how many trophies someone has, just about my own. I don't bother trying to level up and stuff, because i'll never pass Oz-Metalhead lol!!

yea I was a victim of the “I thought the game looked good then it was crap” twice
It just bugs me when someone knows it's bad, they tell me how crappy it is, then they say “I'll play it for the plat” really? play a real game.

I can understand where you're coming from mate, when a plat is easier to get than some of the bronze trophies out there then it loses any impact as an actual achievement. PSN doesn't differentiate between a month long grind and a one day run-through.
Add to that the amount of boosting, cheating and accounts with multiple users and any sort of leaderboard is going to be almost useless. I don't worry too much about my online rank; I'm in friendly competition with a few of my friends but beyond them I'm not interested in comparing myself with PSN in it's entirety.
As far as completion goes, while I do respect anyone that puts the effort into getting the 100% on all of their games, I do think it's a bit dismissive to demote someone who doesn't. I pick up most of the biggest releases and a few besides and I end up with some games that I've barely touched on and others that I only gave a single playthrough. Sometimes it's because the game is crap but more often than not I just start playing something else. I don't pick up a game, grab the easy trophies and move onto the next in an effort to boost my rank; I just don't have the time to devote myself totally to each game.

Fair point, but most of the easiest plats are appalling movie tie-ins or last-gen re-hashes. That said, I played Terminator salvation on co-op with my brother and it turned out to be a good laugh.

Agreed. Doubling up a trophy list is a bit hard to justify. That sort of crap is purely for leaderboard status though. Nobody on your friend's list would take you seriously.

It doesn't bother me what games people get their plats on. Sure, I'll laugh if I see something horrible (hanna montana), but I don't/wouldn't lose respect for them if I noticed someone having those plats.
I do lose respect for ppl who “hack” trophies & plats. 2 examples would be Fuel (42/46 trophies in about 5 minutes) & the Socom Plat (in about 10 minutes). What's the point? Anyone who looks at your collection is gonna notice it pretty quickly…

No, not at all. Only time I lose respect is when they admit they are playing a horrid game for the sole purpose of getting trophies.
I also don't think you should demote someone for not getting 100% on every game, I just find it awesome when someone does that instead of just going after easy ones.

*Doubling up is the dumbest thing I have ever seen, and I will never understand it.
I also didn't realize there were people who share accounts, but I believe it now that I think about it. I don't really understand that either..

I think people should chill the F**K out when it comes to whinging about people playing games that some don't deem real, firstly who the hell are you to say whether a game is real clearly it is as the person has played it and secondly and I've repeated this so many f**king times it's getting old YOU DID NOT BUY THE GOD DAMN GAME. Now this paragraph was not an attack simply fact.
Zanatos this ain't an attack on you mate it's just my thoughts on the said topic, I'm like most on here and only really worry about my own trophies especially with most people trying to cheat with gamesaves to get their plats these days.

i played terminator for the plat. you lose respect for me? actually i dont care. miiiitch you're right people need to chill on this subject because why should respect for a person hinge on whether or not they have an easy platinum trophy on the playstation? if someone cares enough about their trophy level enough to play a game and grind it out, then so what? when i see someone with a plat on hannah montana or gi joe or something, i think “oh man they platted hannah montana” and then if im worried about having more platinums than them, then i will try to get another platinum. a plat is a plat.

I don't think anyone here is complaining about whether a game is real or not so I don't know who you're telling to “chill the F**k out”. From what I gather Zanatos is questioning the attitude of people who get these easy plats for the sake of rank and then view themselves on a par with people putting the effort into the more difficult games out there.
If I was to grind my way through Warhawk only to be passed out by one of my mates because he bought a couple of Disney titles then I might feel a little aggrieved when he rubs his higher rank in my face.

my plats are listed below, ranging from terminator thru burnout gradually getting harder up to the c.o.d ones which i found a real challenge. i dont care what anyone thinks of them, yeah i got sucked in with the terminator one but so what? dont dis-respect someone based on his/her trophy count and the ease of them, dont forget you know nothing of how old people are on here. i make my mind up of a person's personality from the comments they post, not the trophies they've got. Most people on here leave mature, funny, valid comments. its the ones usually on the actual trophy list pages that brag that they have x amount of plats that p**s me off. most on these forums are pretty sound people. i haven't posted many comments on here so seem relatively new but i've been reading for a while, just play the games u wanna play and let the trophies roll in. That said, i totally agree on people playing a game “just 4 the trophies” sucks. but i've done it once, like i said i got sucked in. May i repent eternally for my sins.

Thats cool I am capable of having a civilised discussion, regardless of what you may think just turn off the sarcasm button as I've heard it all before mate/ as that's the advantage of being older then most on the trophy sites.
Firstly you ask what buying the game has to do with it well it's simple really it comes down to rights, just say I bought hannah montana lol(I'd rather hang myself first) but lets just say I did what right would anyone have to say anything insulting towards me when a) I bought the game with my own money and b) I'm playing it on my own console?
No you don't have to buy a game to know whether it'll be easy or not thats the wonder of this thing called the internet but if you were to buy hannah montana all I'm saying is I may have a laugh and have a friendly joke with you but I would not look at you as a lesser gamer or try to indignify you in any way which I think is the point of this thread.
Now I got a few easy plats yes but I enjoyed playing the games in which I acquired them so who's right is it to tell me that I can't play these games or that the platinums achieved mean any less. With the trophy system of course there are going to be people that will obtain easy platinums but it's there choice what they play and these type of hate threads aren't going to change that, I see it on all trophy sites and my opinion remains the same. It's all opinionated really but nonetheless a pointless debate for the simple fact there are going to be some who agree that they have the right to dictate that everyone should play ”real” games and there are going to be others who play whatever they want for the simple fact they either love trophies or are like me and just love gaming.

I am chilled out, and like I said when I started I'm not trying to be mean to anyone or talk bad about how some people view trophies, this is just my personal opinion and I am curious if anyone else shares it.
It was just a question on thoughts. I don't disrespect anyone, I don't think badly on anyone. I just had a friend on my list who had like 34 plats and is rank 17 (can't remember exact numbers im probably off) and likes to brag about it, rub it in, and I just don't get it. Made me think about it out loud on this website.

No arguments with your opinion mate, you're entitled to it and whatever games you play are your own business and only your own. But this wasn't a hate thread. Nobody was throwing around harsh statements or denouncing anybody. It was a pretty open-minded and easy-going discussion with comments on both sides and no hassle or grief being fired out.

Poor choice of words on my part, my bad guys. I mean like people getting upset about it that kind of thing is a little annoying and they need to just chill and not let it bother them. I see it on other sites more then here though but it's still very common since trophies came out. I kinda wish they never did.

i played terminator after someone on this site said i had a low plat to trophy ratio but i can guarantee i won't be playing any other stupid games to get plat btw i do have a few easy plats e.g. godfather 2 and WWE LOW but i got them because i enjoyed the game and figured as it's an easy plat i may as well go for it.
