Who else has had the chance (or should I say privilege) to play the awesome demo that was released through http://www.precinct52.com? I was finally able to download it tonight (I had to do it through a UK account because the demo code came up as invalid on my Canadian account), and I have to tell you, this game looks like it's going to live up to the hype.
First off, the graphics are stunning. In fact, I was impressed by the graphics instantly by only seeing the opening credits and menu. Would I say that they're Uncharted 2 good? Yes… yes, I definitely would. The lip synching is well done, too. And while on that subject, the voice acting and music in this game are superb. Like, Hollywood-level superb. You can tell that Sony forked over a lot of cash to make this title the best and most realistic experience possible.
Gameplay is where I'm slightly sitting on the fence still. The button combinations seem easy enough at first, but during fast-paced gameplay, it can be a little mind-boggling (i.e. see the Shelby battle scene; one of the most intense, edge-of-my-seat moments I've had in gaming in quite some time). After a while, though, I can see it becoming much easier to catch on to. The walking controls are a little strange, as well. In order to walk, you have to hold down R2, and of course, there's going to be times where you forget to hold down said trigger. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just a little bit of a nuisance at times. I also found that the characters seem a little stiff while walking. It almost brought me back to the days of earlier survival-horror titles on the PlayStation systems. Again, not a bad thing, just odd.
Overall, this 1/2 hour experience with Heavy Rain was every bit as awesome as I was hoping it to be. I've gone from “definitely buying”, to “maybe buying”, to “I'll rent before I buy”, and now to “buying as soon as possible” after playing this demo. If you find it annoying to download this demo off of the Precinct Web site, it'll still be available next Thursday on the PS Store. However, if you can push through the annoyance of it all, it'll be worth your time and effort, trust me. I also read in the comments underneath the article regarding this demo on Kotaku where user “fencermusashi” made an account that they're willing to share with people in order to play the demo immediately. If you act fast, it's possible that he/she hasn't shared with the full four extra people yet. The thrill of playing as a detective/private investigator in search of a serial killer is an absolutely exhilarating experience and one that shouldn't be missed. Get this demo onto your PS3 as soon as possible. You won't be disappointed!

The demo was fantastic, i knew it would be good, but it really impressed me even more. The controls and gameplay are so unique, and really cool. THe graphics are beautiful, everything is perfect. The fight scene in the demo was very intense, i was so into it, really kept you at the edge of your seat.
I was blown away by this demo, i am definitely getting this now. Maybe a little bit after release though, but its a definite buy.
Another awesome PS3 exclusive that doesn't disappoint.

I thought it was amazing. I was worried at the start when the guy was walking down the alleyway, but the other parts of the demo surely proved me wrong. The trailer at the end really made me want to get the game lol

demo was pure awesomness with some more greatness on top!, loved the interview scene with the hooker, the two camera angles made it so cinematic, and you could walk around or lean against stuff whilst interviewning, also fight scene was brilliant, and also the trailer looked amazing with the `slit the end of your finger off in 5 minutes to save your child`, very grown up and decent looking story, i hope this game doesnt dissapoint with its ending (however with 50+ apparently different endings, i doubt that will happen)

Agree 100% with Tridon & kingofgames73, everything they've said describes the demo perfectly so no point in me repeating everything, only other thing that you can do is play the demo & do yourself a favour & pick up the full game when its released, theres nothing at all like this on PS3 or X360 for that matter & as sad as it sounds I don't think there will be anything close to it for a while, 'adult' games are all too sparse on games consoles, as much as I loved MW2, MGS4, Dead Space, etc…, they aren't exactly adult themed games & I for one am delighted that Quantic Dream & particularly David Cage have produced this masterpiece for us to experience
Roll on the 26th…
Oh & btw Tridon, you get used to the different actions for the buttons, believe me I've played it 7 times lol

Anyone with an old Ps2 or backwards compatible Ps3, should, if you haven't already, check out
Quantic Dreams' Fahrenheit… It's the baby that grew up to be – Heavy Rain.
If you didn't get the demo and can't wait till next week, or wanna get a taste of things to come you should def. play this… It's a little basic compared to HR obviously but still a very, very interesting
game if not a bit weird near the end…
Anyone who's played Fahrenheit, or the HR demo knows what a gem this game is gonna be… I want it NOW!

yea this was definitely a cool demo, I played it a number of times to see how many options and outcomes there actually are. The Scott Shelby scene seems to demonstrate it the best, with a couple different ways to fish information out of the girl, and a couple ways to take on that fight scene (I tried to make him die, damn.). Cool stuff.

@ BigWoopMagazine - The bit when you need to find his asthma inhaler in the corridor, I must have left him leaning against that wall for 'bout 10min, lol…
You think it was just cause it was the demo? He should've had an attack and croaked…

Anyone else notice that the longer you leave that guy throwing Lauren around in her apartment the more bruises she has on her

yea I did too, I was hoping he would die there. Then I went and started the fight, and just didn't do anything. The guy beats the hell out of you, but walks away once you're well beaten down. He won't kill you, I tried fighting half the fight and giving up halfway too. I get the impression that there are certain actions that must be done for the story to move along, which makes sense. If you could die at every turn and every corner, some people wouldn't get anywhere in this game. It is cool that he shows more or less wounds based on how you do in the fight, whether its cuts on the face or how bad his limp is. Lauren responds differently based on how you do too, although I'm not sure if its effected by how the interview went.
@Shadiest – no, but I may need to check that out.
Has anyone found any options for the other scene? I talked to Blake, you get to ask 3 questions. Then I examined the body, found the pollen trail, climbed the hill and found the tire tracks, went back down and left. Thats… it. I wanna fight Blake, or something. hehe

@ everyone – My computer was spazzing out for a while last night hence the triple post…
When this comes out i'm gonna get a wee note pad and map out all the choices i make in the game, this'll make it easier to try and unlock all the ending's. I love to geek it up with games, have post-it notes everywhere reminding me of thing's i've missed or need to do for a trophy… This game will be geek-tastic… Love it
