I, like millions of other people, saw The Avengers in 3D last weekend but I won't really say too much about it because everything that basically can be said has been. I'll just ask this question:
To all of you here who saw the movie, who was your favorite superhero? Mine was Cap all the way!
Captain America here too!!
I recently saw 'The Woman in Black'. Not scary at all, nope.

Saw God Bless America and half of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance earlier (we're talking 3 AM). God Bless America was a very hilarious film and it's class. God Bless the person who wrote this script in fact because it was really hilarious and while dumb stuff is happening it kinda makes sense of why these characters are doing what they do. Don't want to give much more away though.
On the other hand, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was kinda all over the place. While the action is nice, the cinematography is not. The shots are all over the place, zooming around, and it's pure chaotic. With that, the dialogue and some of the acting is pure shit along with it. I hate to bag on Nicholas Cage but c'mon! He's in one mood the entire scene, he doesn't shift his attitude at all and it's like he's just doing a parody of himself. Oh, and the devil-child is fcuking dumb. Saying all that though, I haven't finished the film and probably just re-edit this for my full 'review' of it I guess.

Has minor/light spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man 3-D
Never finished Ghost Rider so… Yeah, it was too shit to finish. Anyways, saw The Amazing Spider-Man earlier Today and I definitely have to say, it was a disappointment. The 3-D was utter ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** shit and was better in the actual trailer for the film than in the film itself. For the story itself, it's cool they focused more on Peter than just jumping straight into Spider-Man like in the previous films but the backstory with his parents is utter bullshit and putting that into a sequel when you're main marketing is about what really happened to his parents and stuff like that is ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** bullshit. It was downright disgusting how many plotholes were in the film that the director, Marc Webb, even said he was trailer to leave so much out there so he can continue this franchise. What the fcuk???! That's LAZY. I even saw an official conformation on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 a few months back but to actually save all these plot holes for the next film is completely fcuked up and you're already milking this franchise. Alright, I know this director had a lot on his plate due to him rebooting an already established film series and this being his 2nd film (his first being (500) Days of Summer which is an excellent romantic-comedy) but that doesn't give him a reason to leave plotholes in it still unless someone higher up wanted it to. The action in the film was alright and some moments were heartfelt and you can actually feel the chemistry between the two main actors. Hopefully, Marc Webb steps up his game in the next film or they need an all new director because what he did was insulting. Besides that, I think they should keep the cast and keep that sort of personal story with Peter and stuff like that.
3-D's still shit.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3-D…
You know 'Spiderman' and 'The Amazing Spider Man' are two different things… Right?
And 'multi film' films are all the range right now…

Yeah, I know they're different but I kinda don't understand what you are trying to say about the Multi-Film thing.

I'm only hazarding a guess at what the Doc means but I'd say he's referring to the fact that it's become quite popular to drag one plot across several movies (Twilight) rather than have distinct story-arcs (Die Hard).
That's a wild guess though, I could be completely off track.

@Doc-B
It's not really the fact that it's being dragged out, but when you advertise the Untold story to be in the film and was, but was taken directly out of the film, that's garbage. I can take it if you can put some of the plot in the film, but when you see the actual trailer and see some of the photos from the deleted scene where his 'Untold story' was suppose to be revealed and not even at least get a glimpse at the untold story in any way shape or form, that's when the shit hits the fan for me. Anyways, sorry if I don't make sense on this post, eating cheesecake and listening to something. Hopefully The Amazing Spider-Man thread I put up answers you fully.

Now…
Just back from the Dark Knight Rises and while it was an awesome movie I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. Realistically it was never going to live up to the hype. The previous film was not only 10/10 but was further bolstered by the carreer defining performance of Heath Ledger and the poignant undercurrent of his death.
That's a tough act to follow. But still TDKR gives it a good go. The acting is top notch (Micheal Caine stealing every scene he was in) and the CG is as flawless as it gets. If I had to complain about anything it would be the pacing of the film. It feels a little rushed and over-edited in places. Hopefully that'll be fleshed out in a director's cut.

Think I'd have to agree with 1773 about TDKR. It was always gonna be a tough job folllowing up TDK but right from the start I felt as if they were playing catch up (the start of this not being as good as the bank job in TDK for example).
By most other standards this would probably be classed as a very good film, but it kinda felt like an anti-climax in a way, so whilst I liked it I didn't love it.

I saw TDKR Sunday and while I don't agree with 1773, I don't disagree if that makes sense. I don't want to compare them really. I thought all 3 were fantastic and by far, the best superhero movies to date. I thought TDKR was a blast and I think what probably made me “love” it was that I thought the fight scenes at the end in the snow were just.. breathtaking. Some people say that Joker was better I think Bane did a pretty good job, no? Not outdone, but certainly pretty close and the line “When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die” is just badassery in it's purest form. Going to see it again tomorrow with a different friend

Just came back from TDKR and I definitely have to say, it was pretty damn good. But I also do have to agree with Emdeepee on the anti-climax part because I felt the final battle went way too short. It was exciting and I won't lie, I was literally on the edge of my seat during parts of the film. It's also great seeing Knightfall making an appearance in the film (I know it's a comic but you know what I'm talking about ). Definitely liked seeing the score for the film in motion and building the tension unlike TDK although pretty tense and realistic, I thought the score should've been brought out at some good times during the film.
But saying all of that, is it a better film than TDK? I don't really know but while not perfect, it was pretty damn good IMO. Wish the final battle was much more bigger and epic than it was… And to add, The Pitt was definitely my favorite scene of the film. RISE.
John Blake is badass.

Saw Detention, Night of the Living Dead (1990 remake), and [REC] 2 which I all enjoyed thoroughly but I have to say Detention was probably the best of the bunch. Saying that, I can't recommend Detention to anyone unless I know what they like as this is a great film but it's not for everyone, if that makes sense? [REC] 2 was scary as shit though…

Almost my entire day was devoted to Batman. First thing I did was drive to the closest IMAX theater and I saw TDKR for the third time. I HAD to see it in IMAX before I never get a chance too, after all… Definitely the best movie I've seen this year. When I got back I played Lego Batman 2 for a few hours then I took a break. Later that night I watched Under the Red Hood, which was phenomenal!! Red Hood's basically Batman but with a different ethical code, killing be an option, also wanting to become the ruler of Gotham's crime syndicates. His arsenal matches the Caped Crusaders and so does his fighting ability. He's got world class sniping skills and one-liners to boot, a totally badass villain. The action was amazing and I hope Red Hood makes an appearance in the next “Arkham” game, he's always 2 steps ahead of everyone. I'll never forget the final confrontation when all 3 characters stories collided… In short, Batman's the fcuking greatest and I'll definitely be starting DCUO soon just to serve under the Dark Knight!

Just back from the Expendables 2.
Dodgy acting, cheesy one-liners, every cliché in the book and absolutely ridiculous action sequences.
In other words… everything a proper action hero movie should have!! Parked my brain at the door and enjoyed every minute of a movie doing exactly what it says on the tin. The cameos are brilliant, the references golden and the mayhem just outclasses the first Expendables in every way.
Get all your mates, leave the WaGs at home and cheer on the explosions!
10/10
