My question is how do you get you picture to move. For example, Ps3 Freaks picture shows a nuclear explosion happening and it zooms in and zooms out.

that's GIF image..you can create your own if you want to..i just forgot what application what that was.

You can actually save the image onto the ps3 hd and then upload that. it wont move when you look at it on your ps3 but it will when you upload it as a avator. just search GIF 50X50 forum avators ive got loads. but im not sure how you make em and if anyone knows could you please explain.

Gifs are created by a series of layered images to create a sequence of what then appears to be a moving image.
it's like a dooing a doodle in the corner of a notepad on each page, changing it slightly then flicking through it really quickly in order to animate the image.
you can create these yourself by using one of many photshop applications.

there are plenty of free apllications that you can use. just go to google and type in GIF Animator or GIF editor etc.
Personally, I use Adobe Photshop Elements. But it might be a bit much if you only want to animate an image.

Lol i just typed in something like 'avatar' or 'animations' into google and it comes up with some sites with good choices, but you have to find the ones that are 50×50… also if you go and look at some other forums you can just rob theres lol

If you're using windows, make sure they are actually .GIF, or .PNG. including it in the file name won't work.
right click properties on the file to check the format of the file, or copen my documents and go to tools > folder options > views and uncheck “hide extensions for known file types”. locate the image and you will see the file type of the file.
another thing to try is to lower it below 50×50, to 49×49.

actually, if you like an image, but it's not the right size, you can actually just resize the image. nearly all image editing software will allow you to crop, resize, stretch, shrink etc.
my flow avatar for instance was actually a full sized desktop wallpaper. I cropped the image to just the head, resized the cropped image to 50×50 pixels and blured certain parts of the image so that it wouldn't look pixellated, then saved it as a .png.
