It looks like a shitty satnav. And I wouldn't let the fact that it's a prototype put my mind at ease. The PS Move prototype was mingin and despite them laughing off the appearance at the tech demo and assuring us it would change, the thing turned up just as retarded looking as it ever did.

If I have learned anything from my time working in the service industry it’s that for quite a few people, the basic theories behind the use of a toilet are absolute mysteries…

Oh I know that, the thing could perform like a beauty but I'm only commenting on it's appearance. Knowing Sony it'll have a stack of cool connectivity features and (getting ahead of myself here) the possibility of proper games linked to my account (if it doesn't get hacked like the PSP) is something I'd like to see. I may be dreaming but earning trophies on my break in work would be cool.

That's true… But with this being Sony there is a 50% chance this will end up being sh!tty?
I just hope Sony has learned from a few of their previous failures to just 'blend into' the phone market rather than trying to dominate it with their own software or something stupid… Anyone remember Atrac for example?

i actually doubt it's just a phone..
chances are it a portable media device with phone capabilities. it shouldn't be judged as a phone, because it probably isn't one.
