I want to convert MKV files so that I can play backed up MKV files from my NAS drive onto my PS3.
Does anyone have good advice for that?I'm really appreciate.

I use a program called Handbrake to convert video files. It's converted anything i've thrown at it so far, and i'm pretty sure it can convert MKV files. It's not as fast as other converters, but it's still pretty fast, and definately outputs the best quality.

Here's my experience with streaming to PS3:
MPEG2 files have no size limit. Audio should be AC3 or LPCM.
M2TS files have no size limit. You can stream anything that's MPG2 or AVC. VC1 doesn't work. Audio: AC3 and LPCM works. TrueHD,DTS doesn't work.
I suggest you convert MKV files to MPEG.

I find the easiest and quickest way to convert MKV files to M2TS files is by using muxter, this does not work with MKV files that have DTS audio though but all you need is another program called Popcorn MKV audio converter. Run the MKV with DTS audio through audio converter and then you can run the converted file through muxter. Works like a charm every time, i have done this with over 50 movies and each one has come out perfect.
