im happy to say that all the teams i thought would win won, wish i made a bet now seeing as the odds wouldve been pretty good for slovenia, ghana, germany treble.

i could tell straight away germany were gonna win looking at the aussies line-up, cahill upfront? wouldnt say he deserved a sending off like but they did foul a lot so..

germany were playing 4-5-1 as well, look a strong side to me and more entertaining than the rest.

japan v cameroon – what a bore…

hopefully the italy v paraguay can make up for it!

Italy is gonna have to turn it up a couples of notches in the second half…Paraguay just might beat them.

@LunaMoonfang – For a team that plays defensive football Italy made that look woeful! urgh & as I speak all 4 defenders failed to clear an attack that didn't look dangerous at all.

Italy played like complete shit in the first half, but I think they actually played pretty good in the second half. If they can keep playing like they did in the second half, they might actually win some games.

still, with that second half performance they wont win the world cup, nor even get to the final. i loved how gary lineker and alan hansen were saying 'thats how italy play' and that – very true, most of the players didnt even get a touch of the ball as all they did was pass it around the defence! marchisio played so poor, i wouldnt even play him next game.

It was a draw. NZ got an equaliser in the 92nd minute.

The only team I've seen so far that have impressed me are the Germans. Scored 4 could have had 8. Having said that the Brazilians have just kicked off so hopefully they'll put on a show.

I know teams are desperate to avoid defeat in the first game, but some of these matches have been boring as hell.

Was made up for the Kiwi's though. They know they're not the best team there but showed a lot of fighting spirit and got what they deserved (especially since Slovakia's goal was offside).

Definitely. Italy will have to REALLY step it up if they even want a chance at winning the cup. We will find out Sunday if they have improved at all. Italy is not much of an attacking team, their goal opportunities always come from free kicks and corners. Always. But thats how they play, and it certainly worked for them in 2006. It could still work for them, they just got to pick up the pace. There is a player on their team named Pepe i believe, he was great. Him and Camoranesi created a lot of chances, but the strikers just could not finish. And the Italian defense was so weak.. Cannavaro is playing poorly. 

honestly the world cup ball looks shite! it just floats away and looks to easy to strike. all free kicks up to now have been poor except gourcuff's effort.

brazil game as pretty good, i was really impressed with robinho, definetly going to be the spark for brazil. on the other hand kaka suprisingly was very poor imo, creating nothing and not doing much tbh. michel bastos and maicon were great attackers from fullback as well.

haha at spain! switzerland are really taking the game to them!
