I think he does his bar chords by hooking his thumb over, and hitting the top E-String, while muting the A-String with the tip of the thumb. Its really once you play it a few times, i think he did it because he was not able to use his index finger to bar everything. Its not really awkward, but i think its just an easier way of playing the chords.

heard it non stop outside the bird's nest and came to really like this song now! even have alternaitve lyrics, but my mates didnt like me singing them in chinese public for some reason , but yh it's quite a nice little song, considering i listen to the oldies normally aswell!
@parnakas=ive come to believe that i either had a terrible railway accident as a child and am missing about a few mm off my fingers or jimi hendrix has longer fingers  , i guess i just need a bit more practice, as the positioning feels `different` to say the least….But it looks good, now all i need is some paint, a cape, and some chewing gum, maybe even a wig aswell……
