This game was news to me, but I have to say the trailer looks awesome (like a cross between Memento and Lost). One to keep an eye on maybe???

This was looking cool about four years ago but the whole project went dark and I thought it had just been scrapped. I was delighted to find out I was wrong. The trailers look insane.
Apparently the emphasis is going to be on survival rather than mowing down zombies. Guns and bullets are going to be rarities with melee being the common defence.

looks impressive but
`…and the zombie attack scenes are along the lines of any number of movies. Originally slated for a 2008 release, this is finally coming for PC and Xbox 360 hopefully later in the year.`
is it confirmed ps3 yet?

A few online retailers have it listed for PS3. Wikipedia seems to think so too.

Shit the bed.
That trailer was one of the greatest trailers I have ever seen. And that's up there with the announcement trailers for TLOZ:WW and TP.
Wow, if the game is as good as the trailer, I'm going to love it. Seems very story based, not mindless combat, like most other zombie games. I hope there's different paths to take, choices you have to make. Seriously, really looking forward to this now. Thanks for posting this, Em!

Spent a while researching this and I think it's going to be amazing!
“open world”
“first person”
“four-player co-operative play”
“focus will be on melee combat”
“customizable weaponry and RPG elements.”
“experience system and a skill tree system”
There is also an energy bar or something that means that while attacking it goes down and the player must rest to regain it before continuing to attack.
Special enemies too! Probably big fat ones and corrosive ones, maybe crawling ones, or flaming ones…
This is certainly looking like a release buy for me, it's looking innovative and interesting and certainly looks quite story based.

@Ninjacat
There's no doubt that this is shaoing up to be a beast of a game but I can't help but be a little disappointed that they've moved away from the original concept so much.
When it was first announced the emphisis was on survival horror and combat was going to be quite limited. You were basically an ordinary person caught up in a crazy situation and trying to get out alive. Combat was almost exclusively going to be defensive and used to get out of dangerous situations.
Now we're going to be roaming around with a squad of leveled-up action heroes like in Borderlands. It still sounds like a great game but the combat and zombie classes are bringing it back down to the ordinary.
I don't want to sound negative, like I said, the game still sounds great and it's on the top of my pre-order wish-list, but when I first heard about this game the factor that most got my attention was how different it was going to play to everything else I had at the time. The prospect of creeping around an island where every enemy could be my death sounded awesome.

I know what you mean. I'm sure there will be a super hard option, where one attack kills, or, weapons are limited or something, I don't know. If there's not I'll be severely disappointed. I think it's far more survival horror that any other zombie game about at the moment. Dead Rising 2 is a great example of this. I understand it's not meant to be serious and it is just for hilarious weapons and a mindless blood bath but I prefer zombies to be more intimidating. I don't like enemies I can just stroll through without a challenge. I love a challenge. So, perhaps this will still give me what I'm looking for even if I do have super human characters. I don't think it's going to be too unrealistic, apart from the fact there are zombies. I mean, the upgrades and stuff aren't going to be completely far-fetched, like two chainsaws on a broom. I hope not, anyway.
