I do kinda wonder why the most profitable series in gaming history feels the need to charge for content.

i agree, for any game all of the content they make should be including with the games, for example map packs, crappy story related stuff, extra guns, costumes, characters. I'm starting to get sick of all of this “oh buy our game, and buy all of our dlc 1 week after the game comes out.” the only game i think that did dlc properly is borderlands and fallout (very buggy, but still good). I just remebered another great example, red dead redemption with their zombie add-on thing. it was like 10 more hours or more of new stuff for story mode, and some new stuff for online too, all for $10!!!

Or even worse, release day. “Thanks for your £40, but you still need to spend another tenner for the complete experience” 
I don't buy so much DLC these days anyway after spending a fortune on RE5 and Killzone 2 and then hardly using them. I'd quite like to try the Dead Space 2 (Severed) DLC but £7 for two extra chapters is BS!!

Ya but to get the hardened edition you have to pay $40 more than the regular edition, regular edition is $59.99, hardened is $99.99
