Heavy Rain Trophy Guide

WARNING: This guide will contain spoilers I suggest you play through the game on your own once then consult this guide. If you continue to read it is your own fault and I will take no responsibility for your lack of self control.

Hey guys Mitch here with another guide, this time round the game is Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain is a interactive drama developed by the same people who brought you Fahrenheit on the PS2; Quantic Dream, the game itself  sees you play as 4 characters Private Investigator Scott Shelby, Journalist Madison Paige, Agent Norman Jayden and Loving Father Ethan Mars who goes through perilous trials set up by the Origami Killer to see how far he will go to save his son Shaun who is the killer's latest victim, The game play consists of a lot of QTE's (Quick Time Events) and can be a very relaxing game at times and extremely intense as well it draws you in with a great story and plenty of emotionality.

Time to Platinum: Approx 20+ Hours

A quick bit of information about the trophies, they do not unlock as you do the requirements like other games. They unlock during the loading screen after each chapter.

 

HEAVY RAIN^TM Master (Unlock all trophies)

I'm pretty sure you know what needs to be done for this.

 

Happy Birthday (Prologue – Complete the drawing + Set the table + Play with kids)

You'll start the game as Ethan waking in his house, you will find a note on the floor from your wife Grace telling you she has taken the boys out, head to the shower then get dressed. Once dressed go downstairs then head to you office, complete the QTE then you'll have finished your work, once Grace arrives home she will ask you to set the table after that go to the backyard and play with the boys.

 

Interactive Drama (Thank you for supporting Interactive Drama)

You will get this after the Mall chapter; nothing needs to be done as this is just a thanks from the developers.

 

Good Father (Father and Son – Follow the schedule with Shaun and put him to bed in a good mood)

At the start of this chapter head to the kitchen and look at the blackboard with the schedule, you'll see there are plenty of clocks around so just stick to the schedule with everything and you'll get this. Make sure you ask Shaun if he wants dinner earlier then the time on the schedule as it'll give you time to do the QTE. Let him watch TV after dinner but make sure he is in bed on time.

 

White Knight (Sleazy Place – Beat Troy)

After you first meet Lauren, she'll tell you to leave her apartment. In the hallway Scott will have a asthma attack and will also see a man enter Lauren's apartment, go back and this will lead to a fight just follow the QTE.

 

Private Eye (Sleazy Place – Lead Lauren to talk about her son)

This occurs before the above trophy when you are in Lauren's apartment you must convince her to talk about her son to do that select Compassionate then Trick when they become speech options, after that she will talk about her son who was a victim of the Origami Killer.

 

FBI Investigator (Crime Scene – Find all clues related to the Origami Killer in the scene)

Please see “Nerd” for a list of all evidence you need to find.

 

Good Friends (The Park – Play two games with Shaun successfully and buy him candy)

During the Park chapter just play with Shaun on 2 rides then go to the candy man and buy some for him.

 

Got To Remember! (Welcome, Norman! – Remember the time it was at the park and what Shaun was wearing)

The police will question you about Shaun's disappearance all you need to do is tell them the correct information. You were at the park at 4:15, Shaun's jacket was Beige and his pants were Green.

 

Negotiator (Hassan's Shop – Persuade the Robber to leave)

All you need to is convince the robber to leave by selecting these speech options. Nice -> Help -> Reason -> Calm and Name, after Name select Killer then Drop Weapon and he will flee.

 

VIP (Paparazzi – Leave home without being spotted by the journalists)

During this chapter there will be paparazzi outside Ethan's house, to get out unseen go out the backdoor the over the fence and through the alleyway straight to your car.

 

Agoraphobia (Lexington Station – Knock down at least 50 passers-by)

During this chapter Ethan will begin to have a panic attack which leads to him having hallucinations of his son Jason, head towards large crowds of people and you will knock them down when you make contact with them. You don't have very long so head towards the crowded areas.

 

Lucky Locker (Lexington Station – Find the correct locker on first try)

The correct locker is the 3^rd on row 18, the rows will be numbered and this is not hard to miss at all.

 

Blunder (Nathaniel – Shoot Nathaniel)

During this chapter Jayden and Blake will be at a suspects house, once Nathaniel arrives home just ask him a few questions. Blake will start to get right in his face and eventually push him to the ground, it is after this when Nathaniel pulls a gun on Blake. Press R1 to shoot Nathaniel straight away to get this trophy.

 

Self Control (Nathaniel – Do not shoot Nathaniel)

Use these speech options to convince Nathaniel to drop the gun. Psychology -> Psychology -> Reassure -> Calm Down -> Back Away -> Gun Down -> Turn around. A cut scene will show Nathaniel reach for something DO NOT SHOOT HIM, it will just be a crucifix which he points at Blake.

 

Baby Master (Suicide Baby – Make no mistakes taking care of the baby)

After you dress Susan's wound go and change and feed Emily, you cannot make any mistakes at all.

 

Kamikaze (The Bear – Take the best route on the highway)

During this trial there are several multi direction choices, here are the choices you must make:

• First multi-choice: either LEFT or RIGHT.
• Second multi-choice: only RIGHT.
• Third multi-choice: only LEFT.
• Fourth multi-choice: only LEFT.
• Fifth multi-choice: only RIGHT.
• Sixth multi-choice: only RIGHT.
• Seventh multi-choice: only RIGHT.
• Eighth multi-choice: only RIGHT TILT.
• Ninth multi-choice: either LEFT or RIGHT.

Among these movements there will also be tilt actions and button presses which are dependent on your difficulty, you must make sure you do not make a single mistake or you will not get the trophy.

 

Good Driver (The Bear – Complete the Bear Trial successfully)

Simply complete the trial with mistakes or without to get this.

 

Cat & Mouse (Covered Market – Beat Korda in the cold storage)

The next suspect Jayden wants to question is Korda, he runs and then you have a fight in the cold storage of the market. Win the fight and you get the trophy.

 

Tough Guy (Kramer's Party – Defeat Gordi's bodyguards)

After Scott speaks to Gordi his security will come in, just win the fight for the trophy.

 

Coward! (The Butterfly – Give up or fail the Butterfly Trial)

Once you get to the electrical grid maze simply go to the door marked Coward and leave.

 

Electrified (The Butterfly – Complete the Butterfly Trial successfully)

Good Cop (Shrink and Punches – Stop Blake from hitting Dupre)

When you pay a visit to Ethan's shrink, Blake will try his usual techniques and start hitting Dupre just do the correct actions to stop him and you'll get the trophy.

 

Bad Cop (Shrink and Punches – Do not stop Blake from hitting Dupre)

Simply stand back and watch Blake smash Dupre.

 

Gold Finger (The Lizard – Cut your finger using axe, knife or pliers + disinfect or cauterize the wound)

Grab the metal pole next to the table and heat it with the stove, grab the axe next to the TV stand and grab the disinfectant from the bathroom. Disinfect the finger, then cut it off then cauterize.

 

Butcher (The Lizard – Cut your finger using saw or scissors)

The saw is to the right of the table, please if you are squeamish use the saw. The scissors are not pretty.

 

Fugitive (Fugitive – Manage to escape Blake in the subway station)

After escaping the apartment, head through the traffic and into the subway follow the QTE's and you will evade Blake.

 

Hands Up! (Fugitive or On the Loose – Get arrested by Blake)

Clear the planks near the apartment window and move the red box near it, just have Madison stand on it and the cops will bust in after a little while. 

 

Ludwig Von (Jayden Blues – Play the piano without a wrong note)

Simple trophy but dependent on difficulty if you're on easy then circle and cross will be your only buttons and for higher difficulties R2 will be added into the mix.

 

Detox (Jayden Blues – Resist Triptocaine)

Only if you've resisted triptocaine from the first time you had a choice will you see this part of the chapter, just play it through and resist again and you'll get this trophy.

 

Wise Guy (Under Arrest – Switch the camera off in the surveillance room before saving Ethan)

You will only play this chapter if you let Ethan get arrested in the Fugitive chapter, once your in control of Jayden you will have to get Ethan out of the interrogation room. Make sure you go in the room with the camera (you will see it during the 1st cut scene of the chapter) and turn it off otherwise you will not get this trophy.

 

I'm a Killer… (The Shark – Kill the Drug Dealer)

During the Shark trial just follow the QTE's and you will have the choice to kill the dealer or not, kill him for this trophy

 

I'm not a Killer! (The Shark – Do not kill the Drug Dealer)

Don't kill the drug dealer to get this trophy.

 

Smart Girl (The Doc – Do not drink the Doc's beverage)

Simply refuse the offer of a drink from the Doc, he will still pour you one. Be careful as when he asks whether you are drinking the buttons for yes and no switch. Make sure you pay attention and select no.

 

Queen of Ropes (The Doc – Escape before the Doc returns)

Whether you drink or not the Doc will take you captive to perform so surgery on you, when he goes to the door make sure you get both your feet and one hand free before he gets back. WARNING: Madison can die in this chapter.

 

Goodbye Mad Jack (Mad Jack – Survive the fights against Mad Jack)

After scanning Mad Jack's workshop for evedience you will have noticed blood on the floor, follow this and it leads to an acid bath which has a skull in it this will trigger the first fight. Once Jayden has the gun pointed a Jack choose the impress option, then Jayden will start to suffer from a triptocaine withdrawal DO NOT press the indicated button. When you wake you are tied up in your car, follow the button prompts and win the fight to get this trophy.

WARNING: Jayden can die in this chapter.

 

The Chef (Eureka – Prepare a good omelette on time)

As soon as Lauren asks to use the shower go to the kitchen and open the fridge, follow the QTE'S and stir the omelette twice and you will have no problem with this trophy.

 

I'm not Scared! (Twins – Follow your brother without making any mistakes)

Playing as a young Scott, you must not miss a single button press while following John through the construction yard.

 

Pride Saved (Sexy Girl – Take off no more than one item of clothing during the strip-tease)

When you are in Paco's office and he points a gun at you, only undo your blouse for your next selection go straight for the lamp.

 

Unforgivable (On the Loose – Do not forgive Madison)

After Ethan and Madison have some fun he will find out she is really a journalist, do not forgive her to get this trophy.

 

Lover Boy (On the Loose – Forgive Madison)

After the nookie just forgive Madison for this trophy.

 

Escape Master (On the Loose – Escape the police at the motel)

Really simple trophy, just hit all the right buttons and when you come to the edge of the roof choose to jump instead of surrender.

 

Swimming Instructor (Trapped – Save Lauren underwater)

Just save Lauren when trapped in the car for this trophy, undo her rope straight after your free of yours as she won't regain consciousness  till you are back on land.

 

Invincible Scott (Face to Face – Do not get shot in Kramer's villa)

Rather self explanatory, just press all the buttons correctly and you won't get shot.

 

Kind Hearted (Face to Face – Give Kramer his medicine)

Go to the drawer and get Kramer's medication.

 

Sacrifice (The Rat – Drink the poison)

Drink from the vial when in the white room.

 

Clever Dad (The Rat – Work out where Shaun is held)

You will have had to of failed at least one trials for this trophy, while in the car you will see a GPS with possible locations for where Shaun is being held. Listen to the sounds on the phone video for the obvious answer but if you are still not sure the address is 852 Theodore Roosevelt Road.

 

Cold as Ice (Killer's Place – Survive the explosion by hiding in the fridge)

Just make your way to the kitchen, then hide in the fridge.

WARNING: Madison can die in this chapter so be quick.

 

Simple Mind (The Old Warehouse – Save the Origami Killer before he falls, with Jayden or Madison)

If Madison and Ethan are the only characters to reach the address then it'll be Madison who fights him, if you get Jayden to solve the case it'll be him who fights Scott. Just make sure you save him when he is grabbing the ledge.

 

So Close… (The Old Warehouse – Reach the end with all characters… and fail)

Just make sure all 3 make it to the adress and make sure you let Scott kill Jayden, let Madison get arrested and then Ethan will be gunned down by police upon exiting the warehouse.

 

HEAVY RAIN^TM Hero (Finish HEAVY RAIN^TM)

Just finish the game.

 

Four Heroes (Complete the story with four characters alive)

Make sure Jayden beats Shelby and Madison warns Ethan about the police.

 

Trial Master (Succeeded in all Ethan's trials)

Succeed in all of Ethan's trials, the only difficult trial should the Butterfly so refer to the “Electrified” trophy for a video of how to complete it

 

Nerd (Find all clues using ARI (Crime scene + Mad Jack + Fish tank) and find the Origami Killer)

Crime Scene:

Inside the white tent:

• The boy's face.
• The orchid on the boy's chest.
• The origami figure in the boy's hand.
• The boy's hand a second time.
• The cut on the boy's leg.

Follow the orchid pollen trail:

• The blood stain on the train tracks.
• The foot prints next to the train tracks.
• The blood stain on the fence.

Up the hill:

• The footprints.
• The tire tracks.

Mad Jack's:

• The three parts of the blood trail leading to the acid bath (don't look in the acid bath just yet).
• The orchid pollen near the back of the garage.
• The paint near the back of the garage.
• The tire tracks near the paint.
• Mad Jack's fingerprints, footprints, the other tire tracks and the visitor's footprints are optional. They may not be required, but do them just in case.

Fish Tank:

• You have to win the QTE fight and tear the Origami Killer's coat so the gas station receipts fall out.
• The orchid pollen near the desk.
• The gas station receipts.
• The scattered papers on the floor.
• The OK's gun near the door.
• The .45 caliber shell also near the door.

To solve the case:

• Go to “Clues”.
• Analyze and geoanalyze the gas station receipts.
• Analyze the OK's gun.
• Scroll over to “The Killer is or was a cop” option. Select “Investigate Further”.
• Geoanalyze “The Killer is or was a cop” option.

 

Saved the Kid (Save Shaun)

Save Shaun with Ethan, Madison or Jayden.

 

Perfect Crime (Clean Manfred's shop of evidence + Let Lauren, Hassan and Kramer die + Kill Madison and Jayden + Origami Killer free)

The only tricky thing about this trophy is the Manfred's shop part make sure you wipe all prints off the following:

• Two phones
• The magnifying glass
• Whiskey bottle and shot glasses
• The ballerina
• The glass case Lauren is leaning against, it's directly in front of the door(she does not always lean against it so if no prompt appears don't worry)
• Window in the office and the front door

That guide lists 7 playthrough strategies which gives you particular endings. Yeah there was a heap of trouble with that trophy for some, I got it on my first attempt at a perfect run. FYI you aren't allowed to let the cop car hit you when you can either tilt left or tilt right.

If you've been playing perfect then when you tilt right to avoid it, it won't hit you. I played through it a few times and whenever i'd stuffed up before that it always hit me as i pulled away.

Yeah it really is all based on luck, should be a higher trophy grade since it's a major pain in the a$$. You can use chapter select to mop up trophies just be sure to turn autosave off, it'll give you that option. Thanks man glad you like it.

pretty good.  here's a few additional tips.

Kamikaze – all buttons commands must be perfect, and you must choose the best route.  Mitch has listed the choices you must make, but there are commands between them you must also do.  The hardest part is the end, the last two commands give very little time to respond.

Happy Birthday – its easy to have a little trouble with this one if you aren't careful.  When setting the table you cannot screw up at all.  Also, when you play with the boys and give the airplane ride, keep running until you are forced to put him down, if you put him down early you forfeit the trophy.

Nerd – I wish I had known the first time through, cause I should have had this.  At Mad jack's you have all the time you need, as long as you don't go near the entrance.  The last clue you should get is looking in the acid bath, as that will advance the scene to the fight, and you won't be able to collect any more after this.  At the Fish Tank, make sure you do not analyze the killer's gun until you put ARI on!  If you look at it first, you will miss the clue! (wierd, right?)  Also, does anyone notice that the receipts don't pop up when ARI is on?  You'd think they would… make sure you pick them up, its easy to miss if you keep your glasses on.

Also – in general whenever going for these perfection ones (especially kamikaze), do it with SAVE ON (as long as you aren't worried about your endings).  The game will auto save at certain points, in kamikaze it will right before you start the driving scene.  If you screw up driving, quit out, and reload the game.  You won't have to do the whole garage scene over and over again, and will start out on the highway.  This also works for the baby scene, and a few others that can be annoying.  EDIT:  Mitch noted above that the trophies pop at the next loading scene.  If you use the SAVE method, you can quit the chapter after you complete the requirements as long as the little auto save icon popped up.  However, you won't see the trophy pop until you load another chapter from the menu.
