That makes 39 plats so far and I'm not really sure what I should make my 40th.
Nothing. Don't do anything special for any milestone. I always tried to do that but it doesn't ever matter to anyone.. I held off on getting my 100th for a while but it's just pointless. I could've got way more plats done in the time it took to figure out which plat I was going to do and it wouldn't even have been worth it.
So I got plat one hundo!
I considered doing Max Payne, MGS4, Sly 4, a whole bunch, but in the end, I said fcuk it and I bagged the Devil's Cartel plat. It was a pretty fun game, Insane had 2-3 checkpoints we had to repeat but it was fine. Pretty easy platinum and I'm glad I don't have to worry about what I'm doing for my 100th platinum anymore.

MemberI wouldn't say Dishonored is perfect or the best game of 2012 (Far Cry 3!) but I thought it was excellent. I've tried to understand Denzel's taste in videogames for as long as I've known him but I don't think I ever will. I have noticed a pattern though. Disaprove of the companies' business practices, be it DLC, pre-order bonuses, yearly iterations, whatever? It's instantly terrible, boring garbage in his eyes. But it's weird since I can't think of any particularly evil thing the Dishonored or MGS3 HD devs have actually done wrong, other than be in the same genre as Deus Ex. So he's also somewhat biased if a game doesn't get the attention he thinks it deserves.
So Denzel, your heart's in the right place, trying to care and make the videogame industry better with all this “vote with your wallet” nonsense, but at the end of the day: games are just games. I'd rather judge them on their own merit and have fun with them, not only because I enjoy them but because I did buy them, and they're not cheap. And I think if you did the same, you might find these games to suck less and be more entertaining.

MemberAnyone here about the Ratchet and Clank movie?
I remember when I just wanted some R&C action figures in the fourth grade. Now they'll have a full feature-length movie soon? It really is a great time to be a gamer. Playstation is the freaking best.

MemberProbably as early as tomorrow. Or whenever, it's just the time that makes more of a difference. You guys put your times down so I can plan around it. I get home a little later than I used to nowadays…

MemberJust a heads up for ya this time, Denzel. I'll be straight there after the ACT is done!
Oh and this just got my hype level to boner status:
gr8jrfan
MemberI have the ACT on Saturday, which is a big test that you need to take in America to even be looked at for any respectable college. I'll be studying for that for a majority of my free time throughout the week so Thursday's not good for me. If it's any consolation, I'll be practically yours after Saturday and you only need 4 people to get into a lobby. You guys could maybe get some practice in or get to grips with the boosting process on Thursday if you guys were still hyped for that date or something. Sorry…

MemberAgain, welcome to the site, Frederick!
The aiming controls were a little bit weird but if you don't like MGS3, you are beyond hope, Denzel.
Went through Bioshock 1 for the first time in 4 years to get the platinum in one playthrough. The art of rotating saves is key here, in addition to loads of patience and gathering resources. It's a pretty fun game still except for a few of the Big Daddy encounters. They take shit tons of damage on Survivor, more than most of the level's bosses! Some of the encounters were enjoyable and fun with some tactical planning, like when I had one of them on my heels all the way into a room of turrets and cameras I hacked. Then I hid in a jail cell like a bitch.
Oh well. I felt intelligent when he kicked the bucket.
The Dead Space playthrough is worse than I ever could have imagined. I had more of an appreciation for Patrick since he was the one who got all the collectibles when we did it; it's fcuking dreadful to do. Every 2 rooms holds 2-3 collectibles. I'm fine with games that have maybe 1-3 collectibles per chapter but 40+ is just retarted. Also, the objective marker lead us into a trap, making us pick our floor in an elevator, only for it to disapear and have us fall down a shaft to our deaths.
The game will probably be more enjoyable when we're done with our first playthrough…

MemberEhhh… Maybe? None of the GOW story is in anyway dependent on Ascension. Ascension's probably my least favorite of the entire series, so giving the other entries a shot might be worth your time. The next game in chronological order would be Chains of Olympus and since it's so short and there is a really well done scene towards the end, I'd actually recommend finishing the game before you render judgement on it this time. If THAT isn't your style, then either go to GOW1 or skip to GOW3 if that's what you wanted to play. GOW3 was probably my favorite of the entire series.

MemberI've been doing the remaining Bioshock 2 singleplayer trophies while I wait for the boost that's currently on haitus…
Knocked out the pretty decent Minerva's Den and I'm on the last four Protector Trials. The 15th trial has a really enfuriating glitch that's not allowing me to switch my Plasmid. That would be managable but this trial doesn't allow the collection of money and you have no weapons you can use. I was just putting the Decoy in front of my fountain and I prayed nobody would touch the Little Sister.
They did.
I'm also doing a playthrough of Bioshock 1 on Friday! Now we just need to get Ben to do one…

MemberDo Silent Hill 2! Do Silent Hill 2! It's probably spring break for Denzel so the “unemployed” card can't be used properly!
Also, I wouldn't consider Frederick a member yet. He said some random stuff, said that we were inactive and then he hasn't posted in 4 days.

MemberWhat little time I spent gaming today was put towards the boring Protector Trials. God, those are a grind.
And then I lubed up to Injustice trailers…

MemberWelcome to the site, the “Duddler”.
Goddamnit Jack, if it were on the PS4, I'd just take over so you could stop asking for help!! Are you going for challenges or just trying to beat the level? I haven't focused on any of the Strike Force challenges yet.

Member#98 God of War: Ascension
So I'd probably say that this was the hardest “Hard” mode of the series, but it's still not that bad if you're good at action games. I got through the platinum in exactly 10 hours, scoring everything but the 1000 combo in my playthrough. Trial of Archimedes is nowhere near as bad as some people have been bitching and moaning about. I played it while 1.03 is active, but I'm positive I could've done it without. It took me 4 tries, it gives you a little bit of health and magic per floor but there's still no checkpoints. I was also worried if I'd have all the weapons and relics fully upgraded by the end, so I farmed red orbs at Chapter 20. Guess what? That's also dramataticized by little babies in the forums. I had over 30,000 orbs left at the final boss.
I thought it was a pretty good game but the storytelling definitely left something to be desired. Where were the actual origins of the mighty Kratos that were advertised? They can't do another prequel to 1 now because that'd just be redundant. Ever since 1, I thought it'd be cool to actually play the first fight with the Barbarian King or the burning of the Athenian village. Ghost of Sparta actually provides more details of the origins of Kratos than this! Also, it's missing a lot of elements that made GOW God of War like the freaking sex minigame!
Gameplay-wise it was still pretty fun. You can still do pretty badass combos and the four different ways you can charge your blades kept the battles varied and interesting. (Hades all day, bitches!!) The boss design is spectacular as always, especially the final one. The enemies were fun to fight and all, but it goes against David Jaffe's way of keeping everything extremely Greek. I mean what do armored elephants and bug people have anything to do with Greek mythology? The finishing QTE's are phenomenal, especially the Juggernaut one, slicing open the elephants cranium to reveal it's massive pink brain…
Anyway, it's a really good action game if you can ignore the disapointing storytelling and it's a fun plat to do, in my opinion.

MemberSilent Hill 2 is out of the question?
Oh well. I'm betting on Jesus.
