It wasn't really much of choice… there is no point in getting two playstations when we could easily share consoles. 

I got the dreamcast, which was only 1 year before the ps2, because it was awesome!  also because i loved sonic the hedgehog and the thought of playing sonic in a 3d environment in Sonic Adventure was too good to miss out on.

seriously though, at the time the ps2 was released, the dreamcast was so much better.  [/opinion]

As for the N64, I can't tell you how much fun i had with ocarina of time, super smash brothers, goldeneye, lylat wars (starfox 64), and a load of other great games as well.
