MemberI have recently purchased a PS3 and I am having trouble connecting to the internet. My broadband uses netgear security and requires the PS3 to be recognized to allow it access. I have tried several times and I can't seem to get my PS3 connected.

MemberThe easiest way to setup your internet is to scan for a wireless (assuming you have a wireless router) signal from your ps3. If that doesn't work, you might have to go into your router settings thru your computer and find out the IP address and the other settings that you will need to input into your ps3 manually. Ive had to take both of those routes when my old router died and I had to buy a new one.

Participantif your router uses access controls, then don't need wep or wpa keys. you can controll exactly who uses the connection by allowing only certain devices from connection to your router.
set your ps3 to connect, once it starts, check your router's access control to see 1) if your access controll is activated, which would initially block all new connections. and 2) check to see if your ps3 is attempting to connect through the access control list, and choose to allow it.
attempt to connect your ps3 again, and it should now work.
this is just one reason as to why it might not be working, but there are numerous others.
