Memberin mitch's defense, you do have to try a game before you can decide if its good or bad… and you can't really help it if you earn some trophies in the process… for example, I have noby noby boy trophies.. and that game isn't fun at all… I definitely had to try it first though, because some people think its awesome.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY can not have played these and had a good time unless your a complete jackass who has no friends.
Oh, and if PC games count, Diablo 2, Starcraft, Ragnarok Online, Quake, and Left 4 dead
YES STARCRAFT!!!! hah, sorry, one of my all time favorites. Diablo 2 and Quake were some that I played on a very serious basis for a long time as well. However, didn't think of them as party games since generally all the players are in different locations, I have rarely set up a good lan party.
what if I played the original versions of some of those games? like Gauntlet and Gauntlet II for NES? I still own Wipeout and Wipeout XL for PSOne, and used to have a bomberman game for SNES.

Memberwhat would it be called… xbox 720? we spun around twice, got dizzy, and fell apart just like our consoles….
I seriously doubt that microsoft would release a new console that couldn't compete with ps3 on a hardware stance or flat out beat it… but yea, what would they use for their discs? Whatever they plan on, I'll always encourage the healthy competition, as long as they stop stealing our exclusives and just get some of their own already. That way the developers for ps3 games really gotta push the limits, like naughty dog is doing for uncharted 2.

ha awesome, I never saw that before. is this new OS going to be free since its linux based? I guess it'll be a while before I check it out, since most computers I use are at work and I can't mess with them… and I have no problems with the PS3 OS really, except that I wish I could install a fully functional web browser

MemberValkyria Chronicles – an easily overlooked but great game, and is exclusive to PS3. Otherwise your list looks pretty good… I think there was Naruto Ninja Storm or something like that was released sometime in the past year. Never played that one tho…

MemberI like to collect trophies purely for the challenge that they provide. Some are really fun, and those are the ones I do, but some are just rediculous (10,000 kills online in Resistance 2, and I hate their online mode) so I just don't bother. Like I plan on getting the platinum in Dead Space because I love that game, and I waited a few months to play it on impossible mode,,, the enemies are so threatening now that its actually scaring the hell outta me again. I recently went back to Prince of Persia to get that platinum, and was really dissapointed to discover that I got the “be gentle with her” and “speed demon” trophies for free when I bought the epilogue. I knew they wouldn't be hard, but I like the idea of having that challenge in a fun game that was otherwise easy. I played through Uncharted like 4 or 5 times because I completed all the in game challenges well before the trophy system came out, and then played again to platinum when they patched it… it gave me a good excuse to play through a fantastic game again, and still gave me a sense of accomplishment. I can definitely tell by the end of the first play through of a game whether or not I'll get the platinum, because if it wasn't fun enough I won't bother. I should have had the platinum three times over for burnout paradise because I've played it so much and had my data deleted so many times… and I don't own a web cam, but I don't care… I just love that game. I have the platinum for Infamous, but damn, I still get an urge to play it because that game is so fantastic, and like was said earlier theres more to do for a 100%. I'm borrowing prototype from a friend rigth now, and while very bad ass and cool in certain ways, I can tell I have no intention of platinuming it. Trophies are what you make of it,,, a fun challenge, bragging rights if you want, or simply a horrible waste of time if you don't enjoy the journey.

MemberI've actually wanted a good set of NVG's for a while… unfortunately I'm too old now for all the mischief I wanted to pull using those. It would have been great tho if I still lived in the middle of nowhere and had some friends to play capture the flag or manhunt with out in the woods. Walking around the city though, it'll just make me look like a freak, but maybe help me dodge some of the homeless bums creeping in the shadows…
BigWoopMagazine
Memberwhy would it matter if you already beat it on medium?
BigWoopMagazine
MemberIf it weren't for all those other great games coming I would be much more upset about this, but yeah I was looking at the upcoming line up and thinking damn, I don't have enough money or time for all of this… its kinda sad but I might need to take some vacation days from work just so I can play more games, haha

party games?
and no one has mentioned Rock Band?
its an insanely fun 4-player party game.
ahhhh…. I hate those games. I'm better off heading north and having a jam session with my old roommates… I can play whatever I want then, instead of blue blue green red… blue blue green red… (I'm talking about playing a real instrument, thats one thing I can't get into the virtual version of)
yes.. i play a real instrument too… i have a band, jam to a lot of classic rock, and some metal. Played guitar for quite some time, i can play every band instrument other than vocals
. Got a few Zep covers, some maiden, system of a down, bedouin soundclash, and a bunch of others. But now we focus on originals. We got about 10 of them..
but Rock Band is good for those people who dont know how to play an instrument, and they can rock out. Its A LOT different than a real instrument, but it is fun.
What instrument do you play?
The only thing I play right now is guitar,,, I used to play piano a while back, but don't have room for one in my apartment, and haven't been motivated to go out and buy a keyboard. I guess I shouldn't say I hate rock band or guitar hero, I just have never gotten into them,,, if other people think they're fun I certainly have no problem with that…
Freak – that'd be awesome if you really play those… love the trumpet, thats hilarious.

Memberdoes battlefield even has a single player? I thought it was purely online, at least, thats all I've heard about… at least theres a demo on PSN for it, I haven't tried it tho… I'd check that out first if I were you.

MemberI pretty much hate every pc operating system that exists… they all suck in one way or another, so google has a good shot if they get things right. It has to allow for windows designed programs or mac designed programs to be compatible though, or its going to be really really limited…. and its that compatibility issue that keeps me on windows… dammitahell! sometimes I just wanna go back to DOS but theres no friggin GUI!

Memberwhile graphics are always the most obvious thing to see in a new system, thickbrow is right that its not the end all be all of making a game. gameplay is. The new systems can perform complicated calculations in the background allowing for support of better physics engines, more objects to interact with, more scripts running at one time, better AI,,,, so on and so forth, and the PS3 has such capabilities that its allowing for a kind of gameplay we've never seen before. Developers haven't maxed out the power on PS3 graphically yet, and in that same instance, haven't maxed out its computational abilities, meaning they can still push it further gameplay wise. If you still think this isn't true, play tomb raider for PS1, then play it for PS3. You can see how from one to the other the graphics aren't the only thing that improved but the gameplay has too. However, while the new one has great graphics, you'd probably still rather play something else like Prince of Persia, because it has better gameplay. If the game isn't fun, it doesn't matter how great it looks it just won't fly. A great example of next gen gameplay is looking at infamous… when cole climbs things, his hands and feet grip where they're supposed to grip. Thats not just graphics, but an incredibly complicated scripting for clipping detection which is simply not possible on other systems… which is what makes PS3 so great. Watch any interview with a game developer on a PS3 exclusive, they always talk about “we could never do this kind of thing before”. They aren't just talking about graphics, and they certaintly aren't used to it… and there won't be a new system until they need it. Year 2016 or later, easily.

Memberto be absolutely sure, I started a new game, switched the difficulty to hard, and quit out. Then I started a new game again, and it automatically starts you on hard mode. Thats probably overkill, but I'd rather take a few minutes to do that than play for hours and not get the trophy.

Membersome good points shade, I looked it up it says you can get up to a 16 gig flash drive (I didn't know those existed), essentially doubling that space… but with games on it, and videos, it would probably be nice to have more room to include music as well…
xero – yeah, that is overkill… hah, if you had 120gigs filled, it would take FOREVER to listen to all that music. set for life!
