MemberSouth of the border? Elaborate, I am British.
Thanksgiving is the one holiday we don't have. Is it an American patriotic thing? HELP! I suck at knowledge.

Memberits when the pilgrims came to the “new world” (North America) and the indians taught them stuff and they feasted together, blah blah blah.
Now we do Thanksgiving as a holiday where all our loved ones come and feast together.

MemberI have to say , the American Thanksgiving is pretty crazy . My aunt lives in the States and i visited last year , everyone goes crazy for Football and Turkey and what not . Then the next day they have Black Friday , i was surprised to see that even Sears was packed at 1:00 am in the morning .

ParticipantI sigh at the thought of thanksgiving.
[stereotypical response] – “As if the american's need another excuse to eat something!?”
[more thoughtful response] – Just seems odd that they would celebrate something as trivial as it is.
the europeans came, slaughtered the innocent and claimed the land for their own. The end.
it's funny though, how most american's will disblelieve the acclaimed dates of the original 'thanksgiving'.
The lesson is clear – be thankful for what we all have, for others may not have it.
This lesson is almost ALWAYS thrown out the window. 'You' focus on the food more than the moral obligation to love your family and friends. it sickens me.
