Member@Oz-Metalhead – I don't understand then why when I check my trophies on the sony website it tells me that I earned like 8 of them at the exact same time and day, when in reality its not what I did, and is pretty damn impossible. I checked the website to confirm and list an example, but its currently malfunctioning and keeps telling me my session has timed out (its been doing this for over a week now). I'm pretty sure Burnout Paradise is where I first noticed this, because I earned most of the trophies while playing offline. Anyways, the point is, I was under the impression that this was an indication that the time for earning a trophy was actually whenever you sync them, not when you earn them. I'm not trying to argue what you said, but rather just reach an understanding of which is correct, and how to know that is the case.

MemberMine stopped reading discs at one point, but I got it refurbished, and it has worked great ever since. Like any other piece of electronic hardware though, theres always a chance for malfunction. The more complicated the device, the higher the chances. Most of the time, its due to overheating, but thats usually not actually the fault of the device, but dust, like previous posters mentioned. If you get a new one, dont just keep the area around it clean, but get some air duster to blow the dust out of it from time to time. I have to do this with my laptop, or it overheats and shuts itself down.

BigWoop – that link looks pretty risky.. don't know if i would try that.. But it does sound like it would work.
I've read a few responses from people who have done this and made it work… however, before you ever do such a thing, make sure you know the entirety of what is involved in the process. Having some knowledge in basic electronics is almost necessary. Make sure you ground yourself before touching any components (or you'll short them!), and have an extremely clean work environment. In no way do I actually recommend doing this over sending it in for repairs, but if you absolutely cannot afford a professional repair, it is an alternative solution that you take at your own risk. That said, I'd do it, but I've taken a few electronics courses through college and played with enough computer hardware to know I'm not going to damage things any further.

MemberYes, the new LBP content is releasing this week, but I believe thursday. I know I've posted quite a few links to this website in the past, but one of my favorite things is that they post the rumored upcoming content for every week's update. It includes confirmed, rumored, and coming soon. Check it out:
They've never really steered me wrong. Every Thursday they'll also post what was actually released in each region, including NA, EU, JPN, and the Hong Kong store.

Memberyup, looks like it'll be between $0.49-$0.99 each. I really don't understand why you would want to pay for one of these. I mean, yea 50 cents is like nothing,,, but thats laundry money dammit. Or a game of pool!

i personally dont believe any of it.. a game cannot affect something like that in a console.. the only time ps3s break are with owners not looking after them properly, over heating from constant use, or something electrical… dont blame the game cause you dont like it. not aimed at you parn btw
just people in general
Technically it would be possible for a game to do it, if its driving so much CPU power that it causes overheat. Having played a decent amount of MW2, I doubt that it would do this. My fan rarely kicks into high gear unless the system has been on a few hours, regardless of what game is in it. If your ps3 is not longer under warranty, and you don't want to shell out the $150 to fix it, you might want to consider trying this:

I haven't done this personally, but it looks like a pretty reasonable way to fix it. Basically hes just applying a thermal compound to the CPU area to help relieve the heat, which is usually what causes the YLOD. Good luck man.

killzone is garbage compared to cod. id even say that halo is better than killzone. i have nothing more to say
halo? That game where you can press the jump button, and never return to the ground? The game that has lame guns, uninspired level design, boring graphics, and bland online? The game with a fan base that can not seem to justify why they enjoy Halo so much? Better than Killzone 2? Probably not.. but CoD is probably better.

I almost agree with him (xxTatooxx). Halo is definitely very arcady, and I can't take it seriously, and I never played it online. But, halo had a fun campaign,, some alien weapons that actually seemed alien, and wasn't terrible looking when it was originally released. By current standards, yea its totally played out and doesn't look good anymore, but I still had way more fun playing those campaigns than KZ2. Besides KZ2's horrid controls, I just couldn't understand why the humanoid aliens we're fighting speak english, have weapons nearly identical to Earth's, and why the hell we were fighting them in the first place. The only good thing was the incredible graphics, but no matter how good they are, it just isn't fun.

Member@miiiitch – well, yea you can always argue whats the point of leaderboards when people cheat or boost or whatever… but I think the majority of people don't. So yeah, to get top spot, you gotta cheat, but in that case do you really care if you're higher on the board than those guys? I generally just use a leaderboard to compare amongst my friends… and when theres well over 100,000 people on a board, if I'm in the top 1000 I'm happy. While sure, its admittedly less meaningful with cheaters, I think its still something I'd like to look at from time to time anyway.
@Oz-Metalhead – well said, and damn, you have a lot of trophies, I can't even begin to understand how you do that with juggling a job and a family as well. I have to assume anyone with more probably does it as a career (unpaid, heh), or has multiple users on the account. If you play offline and only get online to sync trophies, its probably easy to sidestep any cheat detection, if there is any.

Uncharted 2 needs DLC first before they made the GotY edition. Look at Fallout 3 and LBP. They had tons of DLC and were included in the GotY.
it does have DLC. You just might not have noticed since its FREE!!! what an epic concept. Anyway – another great SP game you might want to try is Infamous. Resident Evil 5 is basically single player, and you'll want a partner for the hard modes, but not having the internet isn't really a big deal if you have friends that can come over. Borderlands is good for sp the first run through, but honestly that game really shines when you do co op. It does have split screen co op, but the menu system is really goofy on split screen, its probably the main draw back for this game. Batman AA has a great sp, and you might want to consider a fighting game, like soul cal 4, tekken 6, or the new street fighter. I think they all have online competitive modes, but even without it, you can't go wrong with a good fighting game for local play. I think if you are going for solely SP experience, you'll want to check out some of the great games that have been out for a while, because you wont have to pay full price. This is why MGS4 is a great idea, as well as dead space, heavenly sword, and probably a few others that I can't think of at the moment.

Memberyup, played mariokart, and it is fun, but the steering wheel it comes with is really just a plastic circle that the wiimote fits into, and is basically worthless (this is about all I already knew). I ended up buying a controller and a nunchuck. I wanted to haggle with the shop clerks more about getting a bundle so I could grab a game too, but the place was swamped, I waited in line a good half hour just to pay for the things. Anyways, thanks again for the input guys, I really appreciate it! I hope this is the last time I have to worry about Wii items, as it seems like a really really gimmicky market.
December 21, 2009 at 9:32 pm in reply to: Well, I’m thinking about getting a PS Eye, and I have a question.. #53349BigWoopMagazine
Memberwhich by the way – if you haven't bought it yet, I would continue to wait. Currently there is very little in the way of media that supports the Eye, I think theres 3 PSN games, The Eye of Judgement, and now Eyepet, and thats it. However when the PS3 wand is released, there will be lots more media that uses it, and the wand requires the Eye. As a result, I would expect some sort of camera/controller bundle to be released, and it might save you money to wait for that. At least, thats what I'm banking on, cause I'd be really surprised if they didn't bundle those, especially with a game.

i dont get how yous can complain its getting boring yet still play it all the time! :/
cheers for clearing that up parn.
well – I don't. I've been playing a lot of PJS, Trine, Uncharted 2, Borderlands, the Modnation Beta, etc… however, you will see me on this from time to time still. My coworker practically begs me to get online and play so he can have a decent team mate (not that I'm any good, but I guess its better than nothin'), and my other friend is doing the spec ops with me. For anyone who has been bored by this and hasn't been on uncharted 2 for a while let it be noted that they fixed the servers, and getting in and out of matches is much more fluid and faster now. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. So I'll be on that a lot more now probably (except over the holidays).

Memberyea sounds like its time for a new game dude. I think Borderlands is a great fps, and refreshing because its a completely different style of fps. I keep touting this everywhere, I know, but,,, just saying. I know you've played it though miiiitch, just haven't seen you on it for a while.

roughly how long to plat? just beat the last level on hard? wow not many games do that lol. trine looks to me like from the videos i've seen to kinda have a lbp-esque gameplay style plus weapons lol
woah woah. its not that easy… he said beat the last level without dying. thats key. the last level in this game really really amps up the difficulty, its 5 times harder than any other level in the game. I'm kinda working through this one right now, trying to find all the experience without help of a guide,,, and I think the worst trophy will be the one to make 500 wizard created objects in one level. Its just such a huge number, I'll have to sit there for frickin ever just making those things, it sucks. I don't understand why they did that, 100 would have been much more reasonable, and its still a lot.
Also, the only thing lbp-ish is that its a side scroller. Still a fun game, I think it was worth the bills.
On another note, crap thats a lot of platinums. thats at a point where either A) it is literally your job to play games; B) Theres more than one or two users on the same account; or C) you literally “have no life”. I mean, I have little to no social life at the moment, but DAMN, thats like a black hole of social life.
Edit: yup I'm off topic too! damn, I try not to do that…. uh so yeah, leaderboards eh? I was just looking on sony forums and can't find crap about it. I wonder if its even crossed their minds.
BigWoopMagazine
Membernot sure if I actually need to comment on this…. but….
yes! from like day 1, after I beat the campaign in under 5 hours! After that I was like, well, I've seen this before, and already sunk like 200 hours of my life into cod4. I tried, I really tried to get into it. nope, its just not that exciting anymore. glad someone finally agrees.
