MemberI was resisting saying something about that number 2 as well. Actually for a beta its frickin great! I've been in quite a few now, and no beta has ever compared to this (that I've been in). And the graphics are so polished looking, its at least equivalent of MW2. A lot of the time MW2 has looked like theres a fine fuzz on everything… but I haven't seen that on my HDTV,,, just low quality online videos, so I can't say for sure yet.
PS: Happy early bday knoxie. I'll defnitely forget by then.
MemberSo really, when the end of the year arrives… how will we know definitively what the actual GOTY is? do we go by most sales, most awards, a particular GOTY award, or just still argue out opinions? Take it to a vote, award an APT GOTY medal to what we vote for? Really, I'm curious, how do we ever settle this argument?
Memberhah, yeah I found this earlier today on sony forums. I was skeptical about machinima mode at first, but seeing funny things like this makes me realize that there are actually people out there who will use this. Not me, but cool.
MemberThe one that really gets me is people who believed they were gonna get $20 for passing chain mail. What motivation in the world could a company EVER have for handing out money to do that?! It just doesn't make sense!!

No, but I was on Sony forums earlier.. it seems that this is happening for more than just the Uncharted Beta,,, apparently MAG is down, and certain other services as well. So something is wrong with Sony servers…
Member@knoxie – I'm not worried or angry that you sent me one, I was just using you as an example since people know you on this site. I definitely didn't mean to bash you there or anything, but now that I reread it, it does look like I'm pissed at you…. ooops. Really what irritates me is that I'm getting them from TONS of people… and uhh… I dunno,,, I guess I just didn't see the humor in it. Heh, sorry, I'm an anal retentive tight wad.
It really does surprise me though how many other people that sent them DO believe they're real. Common sense and logic should lead them to realize theres nothing to “test”, as many claim its doing, and that any beta or free money would be distributed through a much more efficient method.
But seriously. No more please.
Memberahhh … persian does not equal terrorist. exploding idiot equals terrorist. And when I think about it I can't believe I didn't realize that the prince and nate drake were the same voice. And yeah, new prince is kinda deuche baggy, but hes not actually a prince in this story… so for the story, it made sense, sorta.

Also, in reference to the original question, I never played socom so thats hard to say. I do know this: its awesome when your team actually works together and you have a good leader. It sucks royal when you don't and becomes insanely frustrating. You can generally tell in the first 3 minutes of a round which way its gonna go.

Not entirely , ofcourse it depends on the gun and ironically your spawned with llike the worst long range gun out there so picking things up is your best option . My HUGE complaint is the melee, and me and Parnakas discussed this so i think it would be easier to explain here . When you run up to someone and melee their first move is to melee back , ofcourse your next move is melee and then you win .. thats it . My big complaint is the small range of attacks and how unfair it can be . Where is the fun where when your hit first you know theres no way of winning , no matter how complicating it would be a simple combo of Triangle and Circle would be a great option to drop kick or trip or something to make the CQC a bit more exciting .
I found a solution for this… first off, any time your running up for a hit, try to fire off a few shots from the hip first, it'll give a distinct advantage… but theres not always time for this. If you get the first punch, cool you won. If you got the second punch instead well you lose, right? not if you dive away and shoot back at them! I mean, it doesn't always work, and you definitely have to press circle immediately after the punch, but I've done it a number of times and it gets you out of that stupid fist duel.
Also, totally agreed on the pistol. It was my bread and butter in the first game and still is now. In campaign it was mainly so I could pull headshots and have a power weapon to switch to. Now in the multiplayer the headshots don't work as well, but you can still take someone down pretty quick from a great distance with it. Its especially good to be skilled with if your going to be a bag carrier in any mode.
Memberyeah, collection trophies are killing me. If there is trophies for that I hope theres also a detailed stats page on how many are left in what area. Unfortunately I collected most of the flags in the first one before I realized they don't do anything… so if they actually do something I might get them regardless of whether theres a trophy for it.
There will probably, and should be, a trophy for completing an assassination target without ever being seen.

Knoxie sent me the MW2 one last night, and I was shocked he didn't know it was fake… so I explained the whole thing, to which he replied that ohh it was a joke… blah blah… But its not funny dammitahell! Some people sending them to me do reply that they thought it was real.,.. were they living in a cave for the past ten years?! Chain mail has always been fake!! What ***NO PROFANE LANGUAGE PLEASE*** lame ass goddamn company would waste their time tracking these things for chrissake?!

Thats what I'm thinking… and this is the beauty of online console games…. theres a problem.. oh we can fix it and patch it. yay. It seems to be the only real complaint I have or see about the game, which is really fantastic when you think about it. I do see some people complaining about the guns… but I don't really see what the problem is. More does not always equal better… the ones they have seem to provide a really well balanced game.

MemberI think that was a reference to it being knoxies favorite thing ever. Well, if or when I purchase this, yea, single player first. Its a good way to get used to any new weapons and features introduced. Also, the campaing in CoD4, while short, was very awesome, for things like the sniper mission, the AC130 mission, etc… And since I hated the WaW campaign, I'm really hoping the IW outdid themselves again on this one. What I really want to see though is more on the Spec Ops mode.
MemberWow I'm at work so I can't get into this right now, I'll have to take a look later. However, thats awesome that you can see all this stuff now, because I was really curious about what sort of upgrades would be available for the different classes. I am planning on getting this game, but probably not on release date… for two reasons. One, Uncharted 2, nuff said. Two, theres no good pre-order bonuses, so I might as well wait to read some reviews, and make sure its worth it (dear god I hope it is, I love the idea of Diablo as an FPS). Looks like initially I'll do the Siren, but because I'm curious about what the deal is with phase walking.
