MemberSo yea… this game does have some funny moments… and considering the metal concert I just went to, I actually do want to play this some more. However, this strikes me as a rental game. Good for the theme and some laughs, but not something I'll want to play over and over again, and heres why: The Battle System. Yeah it plays something like GOW, but theres no flow to the battle. Switching from using the axe to the magic, although just a simple button tap, feel really clunky. Using your ally to throw at enemies just wastes a lot of time. Also, dodging and diving shouldn't require a lock on to do so, it often times has me dodging the wrong enemy. All in all, its really just not that fun. Maybe there will be some upgrades or something in the full game to help this out,,, but whatever. I'll just play it because I love metal.
BTW – Between the Buried and Me in concert = EPIC METAL

ummm… I just have no use for a portable gaming device. If I'm out and about, its because I'm busy doing things. I can definitely see why highschoolers and younger would want them… but living and working in the city means my downtime for games is when I'm at home. Am I alone on that?

Member@barkiemailman – I didn't mean for it to come off that way, but I did read that article. The developer I referred to as admitting to fearing the competition was the guys creating Singularity. I'm really dissapointed that they say this, because I had high hopes for this game. It looks like they have a good concept to add to the already saturated FPS genre, and thats what its going to take to make it in this market and not get shut out by MW2. However, when they say they need to delay the game because of MW2, I fear it will go the way of Fracture, where they have a good concept that is poorly executed. If their gameplay is solid, and the time shifting ability is fully integrated with the enemies, environment, and story, they should have everything they need to put out a great game and make the sales. With that statement though, I become very skeptical of their product. It screams “this is half assed, and we're gonna wait until its less obvious”.
BTW, I didn't see the previous articles regarding other developers admitting to the fear of competition. How do I get to those?

28 here. First system was the NES. Have owned pretty much every system ever since, except for the xbox's.
…You just HAD to get on here and say that after I said we were the oldest didn't ya!
HAHA. I'm just glad to see there are some “senior” gamers on these boards.
Ditto. It gives a little more relevence to the opinion on games when people grew up with 8-bit, so we all know what a long way they've come. Like how sonic started great, but his ultra speed led him so far down hill he lost momentum and can't get back up. Although I will lend credit to the teenagers in the crowd here… most of them display a level of maturity in the discussions than I usually do not find with people that young. This is probably why I stick around. Kudos to the APT community!

okay i don't know about the others, but bioshock is on hold because the developers weren't happy sending the game out until they were sure about it.
im actually very happy they did this because it means they're devoted into making it a good game, rather than just milking it for money.
My thoughts exactly, on that second line.
@gr8jrfan – are you some kind of game developer with inside information that would warrant such an opinion? Quite a few of those games were slated for 2010 from the start. MAG certainly needs some work (although it is shaping up to be a great game), Bioshock 2 will most likely blow MW2 right out of the water, Max Payne 3 was always slated for 2010, and Lost Planet 2 will be out December '09. Just because one developer admitted they fear the competition of MW2 does not mean they all think that. Frankly, it was stupid of them to admit that. It says “our game is no where near as good as MW2”. If they don't have confidence that their game is good enough to compete, then why are they even bothering to make it? Frankly, any game thats pushing past the holiday season is missing a great opportunity to make sales, regardless of the competition. The only reason any of them should do that is if the game is simply not ready. Plus, game delays is nothing new to this industry. It happens constantly, and there isn't any more now than there were in the past several years.

Member@ iruleu – two things man… first, four maps is frickin awesome for a demo. Most multiplayer demos I've had are one mode, one map, no experience system. 4 maps, 4 modes, and a full experience system with boosters is amazing, its by far the best demo I've ever played. EVER. Also, to get boosters you need to buy them first. Exit out of all matchmaking to access the store (press R1). Note the difference between multiplayer and co op boosters…. weapon upgrades DO NOT effect competitive play. Buy your boosters. You can apply them here, or while in matchmaking press square to access your profile and change them.
@Finch – agreed. Its been a problem since the first beta, and now it takes even longer since its gone public (I guess theres too many users to search). I wish you could just host a game, start it when you want, and have people select it from a list,,, and give the option for it to use the search and auto select function. The only real way around this is to host a private match, if you have enough friends online to do so.

Memberahhh yeah, I see how the animation style would have been compared… I didn't realize that the game itself was so different. It does look cool, I'll have to keep an eye on it. Out of curiousity, why would you buy it again for PS3 if you already have it for 360?

Memberflower is quite possibly one of the most innovative games for style and control scheme. Its simplicity is zen. Basically, you play as the wind, and fly around to open up flowers to bloom. As you do this each one lends you a petal to fly with your wind. The controls consist of holding down any button to move (accelerate), and tilting the controller to steer. thats it. awesome. Innovation award right there. I'll give RE5 an award for best co op experience. I'll give Infamous an award for best lighting. Red Faction deserves it for having an awesome physics engine. Batman is all around one of the most polished games I own. Uncharted 2 might beat it for that, but I'd rather say U2 is just flat out going to have the most fun multiplayer to date.
By the way, shouldn't this thread be in general game discussion, since its more about things other than MW2?
BigWoopMagazine
MemberI haven't, and I'm not sure what it is really, but I've heard its been compared to fat princess. have you tried that yet?
BigWoopMagazine
MemberBack on the topic – No. I do not see any point in special editions. 99% of the time I get a new game, the case goes in a box in a my closet, and the disc goes in a cd holder with the rest of my games, and I never look at the case or manual again. Why pay more to get a shinier one? Also, the few times I have gotten special stuff with my game (most recently was PoP with a “behind the scenes” disc), I never even look at it. All I want is to play the game. Thats why I buy the game. If I wanted NVG's, I'd go out and get a good set thats actually designed to be used by hunters or military personnel. If I wanted a batarang, I'd go get a good one that is made of solid metal, and actually works, so I could hurt people with it from down the street when they piss me off.

Despite the fact DeadKlown lives up the road and was here the other day, I'll still leave a response to this.
Yeah, I'm Mark and I'm 26. First videogaming memory was before kindergarten when my dad would go to work in the morning but left detailed instructions on how to access games on our old 8088 computer. Had instructions to get into “Wheel of Fortune” in DOS. Of course at that time computers did not have hard drives. There was a series of “Big Blue Disks” (Thats the name of the series and does not reflect on the size, nor color of the disks) that came on 5 1/4″ disks that had an assortment of applications and games on them. If you think games like DOOM look ancient you have NO idea…This was LONG before the technological marvel known as the 486 Processor.
According to my parents they gave me dads old intellivision before that, but I cant remember playing anything on it. Probably just rubbed the controller up and down my face all day long, so not much has changed I guess.
HAH! Thats exactly what I'm talking about with the 5 1/4″ disks! disks that were floppy! no hard drive! all DOS commands! love it.

good guide how long does it take to get a plat on this
good question. I guess that depends on how many hours you can stand to play katamari straight through. Not that it isn't great, it just wears on me after a few hours. I think I've played it about 20 hours now, and still have one or two katamari drives left to do.
Just a few questions… have you got the platinum? I only ask because I'm wondering if every level has an eternal mode, or just a bunch like in previous katamari games? Also, it appears to me that eternal mode unlocks from achieving a good score in drive mode (good to me is 80 or above, since the king/roboking barely insults you at that level). However, I'm not sure this is always the case, it also seems like some of them unlock from simply completing the drive mode, regardless of final score. Finally, to acheive Back Then: To unlock Classic mode, play through the corresponding level on Eternal Mode. (I know it becomes really obvious when you're playing, but I think its good to note this.)
Otherwise, good guide dude!

personally though, I don't care what these people think about their xbox's…. If they weren't spending money on those, then they'd be trying to play games with us! I don't wanna play games with ignorant fools…. unless they're my opponents…

I downloaded overnight whilst I was

. Woke up to find it all in order this morning
Enjoyed the one go I had, however, I was matched against someone who was level 16 (obviously had been playing all night) so it was a pretty brief experience. Will hopefully get back on in a couple of days

@Insania: I had a similar problem with the MAG beta. I gave up at after 20 hours and being nowhere near the end!!!!
Ah not so! that level 16 may have been a carry over from the open beta. The open beta that was running the past couple weeks is EXACTLY the same as the demo out now, they simply opened up access to it, so all levels/experience carried over. I'm still level 30 and my opponents are yelling at me for having no life and playing too much! I guarantee I didn't play for 48 hours straight to do that! Any ways, totally down for playing this anytime I'm online, especially when the full game is out. Hit me up!

MemberYea, this does happen a lot, but EU also gets things we never see… along with JPN. I really don't understand why they make such a differentiation in the first place… I mean, sure, theres the language barrier thing, but besides that, what reason is there? Especially you canadians not getting stuff I'm getting, whats that all aboot? I guess you just have to get a US account,,, it can't be that hard, right? All you need is a fake address and a credit card that corresponds to it!
