MemberSo apparently everyone plays in the morning!
Managed to get it there playing against randoms. The network is a bit dodge, and I errored out of a few matches but it works well enough.

I just started Mortal Kombat.
It seems pretty bad ass.
You should talk to gr8jrfan if you've any problems, he's the resident Kombat-head.

MemberJust back from the Expendables 2.
Dodgy acting, cheesy one-liners, every cliché in the book and absolutely ridiculous action sequences.
In other words… everything a proper action hero movie should have!! Parked my brain at the door and enjoyed every minute of a movie doing exactly what it says on the tin. The cameos are brilliant, the references golden and the mayhem just outclasses the first Expendables in every way.
Get all your mates, leave the WaGs at home and cheer on the explosions!

MemberNot much got done today but I did invest some time in Rock of Ages. It was a game I'd been keeping an eye out for so I was fairly happy to see it turn up for free on PS+.
It's nothing amazing but it's a simple game done well. The art style is fun and the level design is pretty cool. I've most of the trophies grabbed already and I just need to finish the story, grab all the keys and get gold in the time trials.
Usually time trials are my worst enemy but so far they've been okay. I am stuck on one bastard though. Gold time is 33s and I've managed 33.01s. What a balls!

MemberStill grinding stars on Reality Fighters and hoping that five of you guys will buy the bloody thing so I can get my plat.
Got back into Resonance of Fate as well today. I hadn't touched it in months but I never had a clue of the storyline anyway so there was no issue with catching up. Managed to complete chapter 5 and level up quite a bit. Also stuck a lot of crap onto my guns and while it looks cool in the inventory, I'm not sure does a whole lot to improve their performance.
After that it was set excitement to pause and continue the grind in Resistance 2 co-op. If it wasn't for the chat over the headsets providing some entertainment I don't think I could have gone on.

MemberUpgraded my TV to 3D so there'll be a few older titles dragged out just to see how they look. I've only tried Wipeout HD so far and it looks beast!
I'm up to 62% in Reality Fighters and it's basically just grinding stars to buy outfits and styles now. But I still need to beat 30 fighters in Survival (got the trophy for 20) and the trophy I doubt I'll ever get is for beating five friends. I know a couple of you guys have Vitas but does anyone have RF?
It's a cheap game at only €14.99 and the trophy list is pretty simple.

Time attack is utter piss and the move sets for each style are actually quite small and completely doable in a single round.

MemberBeen away for a few days with only the Vita for company so I've been trying my hand at Reality Fighters. Not a bad little game but the size of the analogue stick makes some of the moves a little tricky. Most of the trophies seem doable but there's one for beating five friends in “infrastructure” (??) in under an hour and if that means five guys on my list with a Vita and the game then I'm fcuked.

Relax man, take this time to play through the older games again and get yourself in the MGS zone
I'm thinking of doing it myself (I only ever played the first one before MGS4) and I'll probably do the same for Resident Evil 6 (Only ever played RE5).

MemberA lot of gaming got sacrificed in the name of housework today but the few hours I did manage away from dirty laundry and vacuum cleaners was devoted to Diablo III. I went on to the auction house the other night and grabbed myself some nice items. Just enough to give me a bit of an edge but I didn't completely kit out my guy as I still want the fun of random armor/weapon drops.
So today was for trying out the new toys and I finished Act II. A little pissed off though as the boss I defeated at the end dropped a stack of rare items but they were all mingin' compared to what I'd been finding up to that point. I can also now summon a spider! It's shit but I still summon it just to have it follow me around!

I understand what you mean about the hop on/hop off aspect. I find them handy as a diversion or change of pace if I'm stuck in or grinding a retail game.
In terms of trophies I'm not too bothered about there not being a plat but I will be put off by a title that takes 20-30 hours to complete for only ten trophies. Very few PSN games warrant that much time based on quality and I'm not willing to grind for a couple of days to grab a plat-less 100%.
And PS1 games are falling by the wayside because they're just too old. I've bought quite a few that I loved back in the day but they're near unplayable now. Even if you can forgive the graphics, the game mechanics are just far too dated.
I'm not so sure about the quality though. While there are some great examples like Journey (BF 1943 is a bit old to compare as the current crop) I think for the sheer number of them floating around now there's far too much chaff. And gr8jrfan touched on the lack of creativity which I also think is a problem. For me, a PSN title has to do something original to be worth picking up. I don't want endless HD remixes of old shooters (Super Stardust was the first and knocks the piss out of nearly everything that has followed) or watered down versions of a full retail game. I genuinely don't get why they release half-assed FPS like Section 8 or Blacklight: TD. They're never going to offer the enjoyment of MW, BF or MoH. I think BF 1943 was the only one that came close.
I think it's a genre where RTS and puzzlers have a chance to shine. And of course games like the Walking Dead. Back to the Future left a lot of people tepid but the genre is still workable.
