A coworker and I both had ps3's get the YLOD on the same day. frickin wierd, right? they're both old systems, and I play mine to death so I'm not that surprised. Anyway, point is we both have discs stuck in them, and neither of us can get them out. Mine's a simpsons DVD, no big deal, but his is a brand new copy of MW2 (his first cod game, so hes pissed). We've tried holding the eject button as you turn it on multiple times, but it doesn't work for either of us. Is there another way without opening it up? If not, is there a way to open it up and get it without destroying anything? We both bought new systems, and I might try to fix both the old ones eventually, but in the mean time it'd be nice to have the discs.
Memberoh and I forgot to mention that I was pretty annoyed the friend invite function doesn't work in the beta. Its a lot more fun to playtest these games with friends, and check out eachothers creations, than it is with random kids.

amazon.com has knocked $5 off the pre-order price of bioshock 2, give you free shipping, and $10 credit towards your next game from the website (GOW 3!). A pretty good deal if you ask me. I did it, and the only thing that hurts is I'll have to wait 5-9 days longer to get it (EDIT: 5-9 days longer if you get the free shipping).
EDIT: Some new information as well, for anyone whos like me and was looking forward to the multiplayer in this game. Apparently there will be no dedicated servers or LAN games available. Hopefully this isn't too much of an issue, but it could mean we might see lag or other lacking performance. I'm really curious to see how this works out, I think deathmatches flinging plasmid powers at each other could get pretty crazy.

I didn't really have a framerate issue… but I've heard this from other people. It is laggy, and the network definitely booted me a lot! And I definitely glitched out on some jumps and walls a few times and got stuck, but luckily you can reset yourself with select. I really do hope they fix this issues (thats the point of a beta, right?) because this game has a lot of potential to be a real fun kart racer.
Memberso… this is still happening, right? and, after tomorrow night, when will be the next one? IMO it shouldn't be any more than a week away, or no one will get eliminated (and I suggest this knowing I will be gone next weekend, therefore auto eliminated).
Memberwell, I think the stupid ones are where you “earn” a trophy for doing something incredibly trivial, like that matt hazard one for pausing the game, or in ghostbusters for sliding down the fire pole. Why does this deserve a trophy? Because the companies are required to make them, and need some dumb padding. Don't get me wrong, I do hate the online ones that require a rediculous amount of playtime to acquire, which is why you don't see me with a lot of platinums – I'm just not doing it if its not fun. Therefore I will never plat Resistance 2, Ghostbusters, Brutal Legend (its not rediculous, but its not really fun either online, and is too laggy), WipEout HD (nobodies online!), and a few others I'm forgetting. I liked how uncharted 2 did it, with play one co op match, play one competitive match. Force people to try it, ok, and then let the in game ranking do the rest. PAIN sucks too.
Memberyes, NA got the beta midway thru december, which lasted until midway thru january. It was pretty fun, when you're actually playing. Unfortunately the load times are kinda rediculous. If they fix it I might buy it, but otherwise there was so much loading that I felt it was gamebreaking. 50% of play time was loading. After every race theres a full minute wait before it even starts loading the next race, and then 1-3 minutes of loading, for a 5 minute race (if that). I made a few tracks, the editor is incredibly easy with a lot of depth, and I uploaded my first one, you should still be able to find it on the servers. Hopefully they already fixed a few things for this second beta round, cause it was definitely a little glitchy (I had the best lap on one race for the whole beta, with -.999 seconds).
MemberI just want the new maps that are coming, and the new co op mode. No real details on those except that one of the new maps will be from the original uncharted. Also, I wanna know when this is coming state side, and if it'll be free again or cost $?
MemberI'm going to try this out eventually (not right now, I did just buy a new slim, but hung on to the old one). I need to find a clean space to do it though, unfortunately I live in a small studio apartment with a cat, who WILL play with the pieces and get hair/dander in the system. So… it might be a month or two before I figure out where to do this, but when I do I'll let ya know how it goes.
Memberyeah I had a pretty bad shitstorm for the start of the year, but I'd say having such health problems within the family is worse. Mine was more of an fraud issue, with people using my credit cards and bullshit. It sucks that even though I “fixed” the problem, people checking my credit will still think I have bad credit.
It sounds like you live somewhere with “free health care” for everyone? If thats the case, well, you can blame that. With “free health care” for everyone, everyone gets shitty service at the hospitals. Without it, you get what you pay for. Its kind of a double edged sword, but on the without side a good health insurance policy would have hopefully kept your mom in the hospital to get continuous treatment. I'm sure the politics of the thing isn't really what you want to hear about, but I do think its shitty when your health care is limited by the government, and you actually need more. Sorry to hear about your troubles though dude, I hope your parents have a speedy recovery.
